COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The pure water we receive from the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek that begins its journey to us just under 14 miles from where we brew with it. We’ll be celebrating this water (insert your lite beer joke here) with our anniversary beer, Headwaters Pale Ale, due to be released February 15, 2011. Now, considering that beer is the product of four simple ingredients and the three other than water rely on water for their existence, we’ve had a fair amount of latitude in paying homage to water in our beer. So, we’ve played all of our cards deftly, bringing the hops, malt and yeast in harmony, with our great local water as the conductor in Headwaters Pale Ale.

Pours with a mild head. The hops were dominant in this beer, but it was refreshing.

12 oz. bottle poured to a czech-pils glass with a hazed, coppery/orangy golden color, with fairly lasting, fluffy, cream toned head foam, and clingy spots & squiggles of lacing. The nose was pleasantly inviting, with light pine, mainly tangerine, then peach, and appropriate sweetness. The flavor started dry, with an earthy, lingering hop bitterness, and just enough smooth malt to balance. Light to medium body, lively carbonation, and a finish that successfully continued the dry and bitter theme. A very quaffable Pale!

This pale ale pours a clear dark copper color. Huge white fluffy head. Lacing everywhere. As soon as I put this up to my nose I was impressed. This is one hopped up pale ale! Full of floral and piney hops with some citrus lingering. Nice presence of caramel malt. The taste doesn’t quite match the amount of hops that the smell has but it’s still very hoppy for just a regular pale ale. Some IPAs would be jealous. The citrus comes in more here with the piney hops following. The beer finishes with a nice toastiness. Kind of like a biscuit. Mouthfeel is a little bit on the light side, almost watery but it all fits together nicely and I don’t mind this kind of mouthfeel for a 5.10% beer. Goes down just really nice

Pours a deep golden with a big fluffy head and good lacing on the glass.

The aroma features a bunch of fruit forward hops, some dank-ness, and a very nice and surprising expression of toasty malt.

The flavor is lightly spicy with a nice toasty malt character throughout. All the while fruit forward hops are the dominant flavor here. This is a very good malty version of an APA that has more hop flavor than most either malt or hop forward APAs. Just a damned enjoyable beer.

Creamy, sweet but with a crisp, dry finish. Hoppy finish. Only slightly bitter at the end.

The Headwaters pours out a clear golden color, with light and fluffy foam on top. Aromas are slightly hoppy, but heavy on the sweet side of things. Just a touch of hops balance nicely with a substantial amount of malts. The hops are slightly bitter, but more citrus and piney than a sticky/bitter style. The malts are sweet, but not candy/sugary sweet. Very nice balance and a very clean smooth finish.

This one pours a crystal clear light red to deep orange and head is off white and lasting. Nose lend emmense toasty, biscuity, bready and earthy malts. Hop nose is mostly citrus, fruits and light resins. Flavor is some earthy hood then come in with toasted and biscuit malts and finishes out with mixed citrus hops. Medium body and crisp mouthfeel. easy to drink. Earthy hop and malt forefront. Not bad. not life changing.

Medium amber with orange hues and a big puffed up white head. Big pure/zesty aromas of fruity citrus and some floral hops with just a hint of caramel. Flavors big on apricot, with an overall fruit/floral hop zest. Light resin with a bitter finish. A solid pale that is mostly like an ipa but the apricot flavor stands out more so than most of the other flavors of hops.

Draft at Momo’s Tennessee street. Pours a pale clear gold and a sudsy white head. Nose is citrus fruit, pine hops, bready malts and light sweetness. Pine hops on the front end, light malt mid palate and finishing bitter. Clean drinking and crisp pale ale. Not bad.
