The pure water we receive from the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek that begins its journey to us just under 14 miles from where we brew with it. Well be celebrating this water (insert your lite beer joke here) with our anniversary beer, Headwaters Pale Ale, due to be released February 15, 2011. Now, considering that beer is the product of four simple ingredients and the three other than water rely on water for their existence, weve had a fair amount of latitude in paying homage to water in our beer. So, weve played all of our cards deftly, bringing the hops, malt and yeast in harmony, with our great local water as the conductor in Headwaters Pale Ale.

12 ounce bottle. Light copper pour with a thin off white head. Aroma of sweet malt and crisp earthy hops. Smooth taste with a nice hoppy finish.

A coworker brought a 6er of this to our recent beer club meeting. Poured a slightly hazy dark gold with foamy white head. Aroma is extremely floral and lemony. Flavor totally reflects aroma. To me it tasted like someone literally took rose petals and soaked them in a keg of a very light apa. Almost a soapy lavender flavor to it. Overall, not really my thing. Very different from your typical apa.

(bottle). This a really nice APA. Clear golden-amber with enough carbonation to enhance the palate. The favor is a mild balanced malt with subtle sweetness. Perfect to session or enjoy just one for fun. I really enjoyed this on a hot spring day. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Orange in color with mild haze. This APA is rather unique in that in addition to the standard Floral Hops, Caramel, Yeasts and Malts that we expect, there is also a rather sweet butterscotch flavor in here. At the same time, it manages to balance out the APA and Butterscotch flavors out quite well. Its light in body and the carbonation is stronger than I would like, but it feels crisp and refreshing on the palate. Much like Prima Pils, its simple in flavor but its does exceptionally well with whatever flavors it contains.

Pours an orange rusty yellow, with a small dissipating head. Nose is citrusy but light. Taste is citrusy but on the light side, bit of a thirst quuencher for an APA. Finish is dry and bitter, very drinkable. Nothing special, but good. Quaff Score 7 / 10
