COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The pure water we receive from the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek that begins its journey to us just under 14 miles from where we brew with it. We’ll be celebrating this water (insert your lite beer joke here) with our anniversary beer, Headwaters Pale Ale, due to be released February 15, 2011. Now, considering that beer is the product of four simple ingredients and the three other than water rely on water for their existence, we’ve had a fair amount of latitude in paying homage to water in our beer. So, we’ve played all of our cards deftly, bringing the hops, malt and yeast in harmony, with our great local water as the conductor in Headwaters Pale Ale.

Draft to pint. Looks good; coppery with nice head. Smells fresh and golly. Tastes pretty good, especially for a PA. Feel is average. Good stuff.

bottle - Pours hazy orange with a one finger head. The aroma is of grapefruit hops with slight herbals. It’s moderately bitter with a subdued malt profile and a medium body. It’s pretty good but I guess I expected a little more from Victory.

A solid draft beer. Reminds me of house beers from Iron Hill Brewery. Slightly subdued aroma and carbonation. Medium amber color. Dry, hoppy mouth feel. Slightly bitter finish. Good, not great.

UPDATED: JUN 20, 2012 20 oz mug pour off tap. golden copper in the glass, scant head. Hoppy nose. Assertive hops on the tongue balanced with a good malt backbone. Hops become more prominent on the finish but not IPAish. Nicely balanced and drinkable.

Nose is bright citrus. Really nice smell here. Taste is nicely muted hops with some carbonation. Finish is clean. Very good pale ale.

Kind of creamy, malty, and hoppy. Some spiced and roasted malts. Enjoyable. Slightly bland but a good brew.

12oz Central Market bottle. Pretty fresh I think because the enjoy by date was 15 July; 3 months from now! This was really pleasant. Enough fruity hops and mellow bitterness to make it tasty and not overpowering. Nice to have the 5.2 ABV too. Well done and thanks!

Nice strong bright white head of dense bubbles. Bit o cream on top. Initial slight skunkiness which dissipates to a plethora of citrus aromas, lemon, grapefruit and light grassy malts. Color is a mdium brownish orange. Substantial bitterness up front along with some light roasted grains and grapefruit pith. Little bit of dry chalkyness late swallow and lingering full on bitterness. A pretty good APA.

12 ounce bottle. Light copper pour with a thin off white head. Aroma of sweet malt and crisp earthy hops. Smooth taste with a nice hoppy finish.

A coworker brought a 6er of this to our recent beer club meeting. Poured a slightly hazy dark gold with foamy white head. Aroma is extremely floral and lemony. Flavor totally reflects aroma. To me it tasted like someone literally took rose petals and soaked them in a keg of a very light apa. Almost a soapy lavender flavor to it. Overall, not really my thing. Very different from your typical apa.
