3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
6 pack best before August 22, 2011. Purchased at BBM. This is a darn good pale ale. It is to pale ales what Stoudt’s pilsner is to pilsners. The aroma on Headwater is nice and hoppy with citrus, melons, and a bit of herbs. A doughy note is also very noticeable and makes this quite palatable. The flavor is clean, well balanced and crisp. There is that doughy-cracker thing that almost reminds me of a pils, but the yeast is slightly fruity and the bitterness leans towards citrus more heavily. Talk about a session ale, this is a winner.

I’m getting a more herbal noble hop nose than some of the other reviewers. Crisp.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear copper pour with a mountainous white head. The nose holds lots of citrus notes- grapefruit and orangepeel abound some grassy herbals following closely behind. A hint of bready caramel malt comes through to provide a bit of a balance. The flavor holds juicy citrus and nectar fruits, with apricot, mandarin orange, nectarine, peach, and grapefruit coming through strongly. Evergreen resin hints make an appearance, as does a nice malt balance. The palate is quite full for the style with low carbonation and a bitter resinous finish. Great rendition of the style.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap; pour is honey golden with an average white head that retains on the average side. This brew has a nice floral hop note on the nose, with a bit of biscuits and a touch of sweetness. The brew starts on the sweet side, with biscuits, honey and florals rounding it out. Bitterness is subdued. This is a nice brew

On tap at the Pourhouse in Westmont, NJ. Slightly hazy mid-amber pour and a 2 finger dusky white head. Equal amounts of lemony citrus and biscuity malt in the nose. Same follows through to the flavors with a nice helping of citrus, a little butterscotch, caramel and cereal. Light, refreshing texture and a clean finish.

3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
DRAFT. Nose is pleasing citrus, pine, resin and toast. Flavor is very tropical with soft caramel and a touch of pine. Finish is light bitterness with a fair amount of sweetness. Carbonation is low. Clean malt character backed with plenty of American style hops that punch in the middle but leave before balancing the malt sweetness and nuttiness.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle to glass mug. Pours a nice clear copper / amber color with a medium off white head. Good lacing. Lots of nice crisp hop flavors. Medium body, but heavy enough to avoid the dreaded "watery" tag. Really nice summer beer.
