3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
THOUGHTS: Well put together. Nothing super unique, but would make a nice session beer. If this stays on as a year round beer it might be my beer of choice for hockey and baseball playoffs. It may not be great on paper, but it is great in the mouth. (Note: Three months have passed since I took these notes and I am halfway through my second case)
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, light, orangey gold with an average, off-white head that mostly diminished but kept a nice sheet. The aroma had moderate caramel malts; moderate to heavy tropical fruit, grapefruit, orange, lemon and lime hops; lighter pine hops; and light slightly funky yeast. The initial flavor was light to moderately sweet and moderately bitter; while the finish was lightly sweet and moderate to almost rather bitter with an average to long duration. There was citrus hops, tropical fruit, some caramel malt, fruit cocktail, shortcake, some pine and citrus rind. The light to medium body was like watery syrup with lightly fizzy carbonation and an ever so slightly metallic and ever so slightly chalky finish.

12oz bottle 6/11/11 (Binny’s Plainfield Singles Rack)-51° in Lager Glass-Pours a clear dark golden with small white head. Aroma of hops, malt, and slight caramel. Taste of the same with the malt coming out on the back end. This medium bodied brew is well balanced and goes down very easy . Nice brew.

12 ounce from Jungle Jim’s. Citrus hops big in nose. Nice clean pour with big head. Little bit of caramel and sweetness (like a little bit of tropical fruit). Solid and tasty beer.

Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Liquors - Betton - 12 oz bottle. Pours a dark, murky orange with a nice soft pillowy white head. Fresh floral and spruce aroma. Flavor a clean, fresh delectable essence to it. A hint of citrus, some mint, some apricot sweetness all meld together nicely. Crisp, clean and refreshing. Mouthfeel has a velveety sheen to it. Excellent pale ale.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle [12oz]. Pours a bubbly, slightly hazy, deep orange with an average size semi-lasting frothy of-white head. Lovely aroma of hops and citrus fruit along and some biscuity malt. Flavour of resiny hops, citrus fruit, lightly toasted malt and a medium bitter finish. Average to medium bodied. A pleasant, easy-drinking APA, I really liked it.

Slight hazy gold, thin beige head. Aroma of grain and oranges. Taste is more bitter than most APA’s, decent amount of grapefruit and resin, good malt balance too, could use more floral and lighter citrus hop flavor. Still a great beer though, just more like an IPA.

Headwaters has a hop lovers label. So the Brandywine Creek is where they get their water - well, they have done a lot of good things with it, that is for sure. I was surprised to discover the other day that Victory has only been in business for 15 years. It seems like they have always been there - maybe they always should have been. Sweet, floral, malty aroma. A peppy and lightly sweet pale ale that has hints of marzen and pilsner to it. Hey, how a bout a new style - German pale ale? Just kidding, but you saw it here first. Well balanced and fresh - another victory from Victory.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
In short: An average citrusy/citric pale ale. Ok
How: Bottle 12oz. Consumed fresh 1 week after purchase
The look: Clear golden body topped by a very small beige head
In long: The nose is moderately hoppy and very bright with citrus fruits of all kinds. Taste has plenty of toasted and slightly caramelized. Balance is a bit towards the hops and that’s fine with me. The citrusy hops have a juicy character and gets more leafy and even a bit spicy when the beer warms up. Finish has a mild-medium citrusy and wooden bitterness as well as some citric acid notes that I could have done without. Also an overall mineral water sensation that never wins me over. Not all that refreshing for a pale ale. All in all, an average Pale Ale. But what this beer lacks in originality is made up by being sold in standard 12oz brown bottles. I really need to work on my metaphors.
