COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The pure water we receive from the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek that begins its journey to us just under 14 miles from where we brew with it. We’ll be celebrating this water (insert your lite beer joke here) with our anniversary beer, Headwaters Pale Ale, due to be released February 15, 2011. Now, considering that beer is the product of four simple ingredients and the three other than water rely on water for their existence, we’ve had a fair amount of latitude in paying homage to water in our beer. So, we’ve played all of our cards deftly, bringing the hops, malt and yeast in harmony, with our great local water as the conductor in Headwaters Pale Ale.

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2012 Pours a lovely, dark amber with a thin and rapidly disappearing head. Very aromatic of floral and herbal hops with quite a bit of citrus as well. The taste contains a great balance of malts.. Very lively effervescence that works with the high bitterness to give the tongue a pleasant sting.

On tap at Brass Ring in Madison, pours a clear dark golden/orange with a decent head and lacing through out the glass, aroma has a nice hop kick in the front with notes of fruit and citrus, the flavor is much of the same with grapefruit mixed in with the hops and the malt, pretty enjoyable brew.

12 oz bottle. Pours a golden copper color with a white head and a little lacing. Aroma is hoppy, citrus, grapefruit. Medium body on the palate with average carbonation. Flavor is sweet, a nice balance of malt and citurs hops. Maybe a litte summit hops. A nice light bitter finish.

Pours an orangish red color with a white head. Smells of pine trees. Taste is kinda bitter with some floral notes. I kinda really like this one for some reason. Not sure what it is.

Clear, very pale amberish orange color with a nice, lasting, cream colored head. Aroma of flowers, herbs, grass cuttings and caramel malt. The flavor is very herbal, with some sort of spiciness. It’s right at the back of the palate, and I can’t quite put a finger on it. A little musty and earthy as well. Slightly sweet with a very subdued bitterness. Medium bodied and smooth. Good, and very refreshing.

Tap. Rating #111. Medium gold pour with a nice lacing white head. Big piney hop aroma, a little soapy. Clean hoppy bite, very little aftertaste and a damn good drinker. (1538)

Cask version at Winking Lizard’s 3rd Annual Real Ale Fest (03/26/11): Pours a hazy orange color with a thin off-white head that recedes quickly. Spotty lacing. Aroma of herbal hops and citrus. Medium body with a fruity character and notes of hops and spices as well as sweet malt. The finish is mildly hoppy up front with a fruity finish. Decent overall.

This was solid. Copper colored beer with a frothy, off-white head. Aromas of grapefruit, pine, and floral hops. Tastes of freshly cut grass, pine/spruce, and HUGE grapefruit notes. The finish is quite refreshing, and extremely fruity. Bitter hops are nicely balanced with the grapefruit. Easy drinking.

Pours clear amber with a creamy/bubbly off-white head. Aroma is nicely floral/fruit over mild roast malt. Med body. Flavor is moderately hoppy - fruit and floral over mild roast malt. The finish is definitely on the bitter side. Hop accumulates towards a slight burn. Good stuff.
