The pure water we receive from the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek that begins its journey to us just under 14 miles from where we brew with it. We’ll be celebrating this water (insert your lite beer joke here) with our anniversary beer, Headwaters Pale Ale, due to be released February 15, 2011. Now, considering that beer is the product of four simple ingredients and the three other than water rely on water for their existence, we’ve had a fair amount of latitude in paying homage to water in our beer. So, we’ve played all of our cards deftly, bringing the hops, malt and yeast in harmony, with our great local water as the conductor in Headwaters Pale Ale.

Bottle at home. Pours hazy pale gold, thin white head. Aromas mostly lemon, some cereal grains. More malt-sweet on the taste, nice lemon bitterness. Bit thin on the finish though.

Bottle from Trembling Madness, York. This is a golden-amber coloured beer with a toffee and almond flavour, mandarin orange notes and a bitter pine finish.

Pale and slightly hazy, decent filmy head. Oaty grapefruit nose. Strawy grainy bitterness. Light, cereal sweetness.Comfy carbonation. Lemony linger. Solid enough but there’s no impact without being too watery.

Bottle, Cave, Glasgow. Slightly hazy amber pour with a small white head. Fragrant grassy hop and citrus in the snout. Uncomplicated sweet malt and grassy hop flavour . A little on the thin side and teeters towards the average side of the tracks. Not my favourite Victory offering.

Very familiar piney/citrus taste. The aroma is at it tastes and is very aromatic. It’s a little on the bitter side. All in all, good pale ale.

Narnad (1448) - Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA - FEB 12, 2014
Pours a cloudy orange color with a low, white head. Aroma has a strong citrus and pine nose with a mild amount of light sweet malt. Flavor has a pine/grassy start but moves into a tangerine citrus flavor later, followed by a light malty sweetness. The body is light with a low amount of carbonation and thin feeling. Overall an nice, simple beer.

Light orange with straw color. Outstanding aroma, hoppy floral essence. Beer is somewhat dry, somewhat bitter. Medium-strong hop on the flavor. Not bad.

35,5 cl bottle @ Oluthuone Kuikka, enjoy by 18.12.2013. Aroma has caramel, resiny tones and some hay. Flavour is somewhat hoppy with grass, some fruity tones, caramel and hay. Like a mixture of fresh pils and pale ale. Refreshing and good, perhaps a bit stuffy though.
