COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The pure water we receive from the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek that begins its journey to us just under 14 miles from where we brew with it. We’ll be celebrating this water (insert your lite beer joke here) with our anniversary beer, Headwaters Pale Ale, due to be released February 15, 2011. Now, considering that beer is the product of four simple ingredients and the three other than water rely on water for their existence, we’ve had a fair amount of latitude in paying homage to water in our beer. So, we’ve played all of our cards deftly, bringing the hops, malt and yeast in harmony, with our great local water as the conductor in Headwaters Pale Ale.

Creamy, sweet but with a crisp, dry finish. Hoppy finish. Only slightly bitter at the end.

From a 355ml bottle on 26/3/2015. Pours a clear golden with a smallish head. Has a pleasant light fruity aroma with some honey in the mix. In the mouth, there’s some sweet biscuity malt and citrus fruit (sweet orange, tart/sour lemon) but it’s the big, dry, piney, herbal bitterness that defines this. Hop wise, this is very much in IPA territory. Medium bodied with average carbonation. This is a cracking, very flavoursome hop forward APA.

Fantastic beer my favorite from one of the best in the country. It was enough ale qualities and a nice citrus hop aroma but is as drinkable as any Pilsner.

Tap at Fermentoren Aarhus. Pours a clear amber with a medium sized, white, long lasting head. Aroma is not very intense. Bitter, grassy, piney hops, sweeter pale malts and some citrus. Taste is pretty bitter up front, very nice pine, slight malty sweetness, but just a plain, crisp pale ale. Medium carbonation, smooth but crisp body.

Pale Amber pour, frothy white head and excellent lacing. A very sweet aroma comes on the nose. Sweet banana bread, sweet caramel. Mild hop bitterness, mostly citrusbin nature. Very nice.

(bottle, 35.5cl, 5.1% abv) Clear, deep golden colour with a firm, medium-sized and slightly off-white foamy head. Fresh hoppy nose with resiny accents, as well as fruity notes of grapefruit, lemon and a whiff of passion fruit, backed by a hint of biscuity malt and toffee. Moderately bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a modest carbonation. Delicately biscuity (cara-)malty base with present resiny and grapefruity hops; dry and moderately hop bitter finish with a mildly malty backbone and a resiny and slightly fruity hoppy aftertaste. A decent Ale of reliable quality but also nothing groundbreakingly new. 28.I.15

Buon esempio di american pale ale, limpida con una schiuma che tiene e compatta. Si beve bene e non stanca.

Pours a bit unclear blonde. Smell is sweet ( honey style) with some bityer undertone. Taste is rathet sharp, sweet malts ( again a mild honey aspect) with only a hint of hoppy bitterness underneath.

Bottle (12 oz) bought @ Winooski Beverage Warehouse.

Appearance: Clear golden/amber with a medium off-white head and good lacing.

Aroma: Massive spruce presence, earthy notes, caramel, citrus and light toasted malt.

Taste: Spruce, earthy notes, caramel, citrus and toasted malt. Light bitterness.

Palate: Medium body. Medium carbonation. Lingering earthy finish.

Overall: Not sure of the bottling date, but considering many other ratings have a lot of citrus in this one, I guess the aromatic hops in the bottles I had might be gone. Surprisingly spruce forward with a lenghy (a bit too much) earthy bitterness. Less clean than usual for a Victory quenching beer. I will have to revisit.
