COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The pure water we receive from the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek that begins its journey to us just under 14 miles from where we brew with it. We’ll be celebrating this water (insert your lite beer joke here) with our anniversary beer, Headwaters Pale Ale, due to be released February 15, 2011. Now, considering that beer is the product of four simple ingredients and the three other than water rely on water for their existence, we’ve had a fair amount of latitude in paying homage to water in our beer. So, we’ve played all of our cards deftly, bringing the hops, malt and yeast in harmony, with our great local water as the conductor in Headwaters Pale Ale.

Pours a clear bronze with a minimal white head. Nose is semi-toasty cereal, I’m thinking cheerios, with an herbally, grassy (somewhat skunky) hop profile. Flavor is also toasty cereal grains, a little sweet, the hops have a bit of a resinous and floral character. I can tell that the water makes a difference. I really think the brew tastes "cleaner" but not "better". It finishes bitter and slightly metallic. Medium-thin mouth feel. Not worth the $11.50 a sixer you have to pay for it here.

Bottle from the Hop Hideout in Sheffield. pours clear golden with an off white head. Mild citrus hop aroma. The taste is light grapefruit and citrus. Some pine too. A little thin bodied. Nice, but I was hoping for a little more.

CAN. (BB29OCT16) Clear light golden pour with small bubbly white head.. Sweet malty nose, lively tangerine fruitiness.. Fresh mix of sweet caramel malt and fruity hops start to finish, but disappears quickly.. Sourced Cellarbrations @ Capel

Flaska. Guldfärgad med ett vitt skum. Dofter och smaker av citrus, malt, gräs och nektarin. Något stickig beska, men väl uppbackad av en len sötma.

Very good punch for a 5% PA. Hops are sharp and clean, think bitter cut grass, and good buzzy length. Lots of presence.

Interesting...starts with an unexpected amount of bitterness but is then relieved by sweet, roasted malts. The palate is left with just a light bitter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can from beer gonzo, Coventry. Lemon, citrus aromas. Taste is herbal, lemon, over brewed earl grey tea. Very subtle. Quite refreshing. Nice to taste an American ale that is less aggressive but still tasty.
