COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The pure water we receive from the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek that begins its journey to us just under 14 miles from where we brew with it. We’ll be celebrating this water (insert your lite beer joke here) with our anniversary beer, Headwaters Pale Ale, due to be released February 15, 2011. Now, considering that beer is the product of four simple ingredients and the three other than water rely on water for their existence, we’ve had a fair amount of latitude in paying homage to water in our beer. So, we’ve played all of our cards deftly, bringing the hops, malt and yeast in harmony, with our great local water as the conductor in Headwaters Pale Ale.

This pale comes close to IPA territory. I had this on cask and was expecting a more mellow palate. What I found was a smooth but carbonated yet dry mouthfeel. The aroma was of piney and floral hops. Light coppery color with a white fizzy head, almost frothy. Crisp flavors of mainly hops with some gainy malts but not much. Easy to drink with chili.

Crisp clean American pale ale, a little bit of doughy yeast character, restrained grassy/piney hoppiness. Tasty beer.

12oz bottle. Hazy dark golden with a thin foamy white head. Flavors are bread, biscuit, caramel, lemon and grapefruit with spicy notes. Significant bitterness. Medium body, soft carbonation, oily and chalky texture.

A very crisp, refreshing beer. Aroma and flavor are both dominated by grassy hops, with a subtle hay, almost Pilsner flavor behind the main grassy taste. Some mild hop bitterness as well. Basically, it tastes the way a freshly mowed lawn smells. I’m a fan.

Low blond top. Shimmering golden body. Peachy and light resinous hop aroma. Some sourish malt tones. Dry and slick on the palate. Bold bitterness, more resin than fruit. Semi-dry toasty malt flavor. Finishes on the fruity side with a lingering bitterness. [Draft at Taphouse, København]

Draft. An amber beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of citrus fruits, spicy hops, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of spicy hops, exotic fruits, and chewy malts, leading to a bitter finish.

Bottle. Pours clear copper with a thin filmy head that coats the glass. Rich aroma - earthy, cut grass, a little bit funky. Very full flavor in the mouth with a nice effervescence. Hoppy with a nice pronounced bitterness. Good aftertaste. Definitely not your average pale ale. Victory puts out consistently good beers.
