COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The pure water we receive from the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek that begins its journey to us just under 14 miles from where we brew with it. We’ll be celebrating this water (insert your lite beer joke here) with our anniversary beer, Headwaters Pale Ale, due to be released February 15, 2011. Now, considering that beer is the product of four simple ingredients and the three other than water rely on water for their existence, we’ve had a fair amount of latitude in paying homage to water in our beer. So, we’ve played all of our cards deftly, bringing the hops, malt and yeast in harmony, with our great local water as the conductor in Headwaters Pale Ale.

Nose is light fart, bitter orange, straw, melon, bread dough. Taste comprises melon, tangerine, a touch soapy, bread dough. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Bottle at Beer Hunters, Pori. Clear amber-copper color, small steady off-white head. Citrus, piney and a bit bready aroma. Light-bodied. Pale malty with piney flavor. Hints of citrus. Simple pa. Of course probably better over the pond.

DATE TASTED: August 6, 2015 ... GLASSWARE: Brew at the Zoo pint... OCCASION: watching the Fox faux Republican debate with a giddy anticipation... APPEARANCE: clear, light amber body; bubble sparsely populate the glass; fluffy, white head leaves intricate coral lacing that is attractive ... AROMA: the given citric appropriateness of a pale ale--lemon grass, grapefruit, and soft floral hints--an overall soft suggestion... PALATE: strong carbonation livens the mouth, with a medium-bodied, reasonable finish--easy drinking and sessionable... TASTE: a sessionable, apologetic pale ale, one that does not distinguish itself in profile--no outstanding or detrimental characteristics...light bitterness with a maltiness that balances this beer nicely... OVERALL: after reading the label, I got the sense that this beer would be an ale far short of Hop Devil or Dirt Wolf...instead, it is more of an about-face or 180, softening the genre and rounding its edges... agreeable but not distinguishable...the citrus is light, there is no resin, and enough malt holds the beer in place...a lesser, yet still worthwhile beer in a Victory sampler...

0.355 bottle at Sir William’s Pub, Ljubljana, Slovenia. Pours deep clear orange with small off white head. Tropical, honey and mint aroma. Drinkable and refreshing, but body to light. Hoppy character not to strong, maybe lack something. Taste is well balanced, light sweetness and some bitterness. Light finish. Good.

craftbeersweden (362) - SWEDEN - JUL 25, 2015
Clear dark amber colored beer with a two finger high head that leaves a lot of lacing on the glass.

Nose: Floral hop, tea, pine, malt, butter, honey and bread.
Taste: Grapefruit, orange marmelade, dried fruit, caramel malt and lemon zest.
Body: Medium body and crisp carbonation. A bitterness in the end. Smooth mouthfeel.

Overall: A easy beer to drink. Smooth and tasty. Nothing overwhelming but solid.

Bottle, 0.355l, shared with Leo. Pours clear amber color with medium creamy off-white head and average sparkling appearance. Aroma of tropical fruits, flowers and bread. Taste starts with moderate sweet caramel malt and resin, following is refreshing grassy, mouthfeel rather dry, while finish is pleasant bitter. Medium body, oily texture and average carbonation in palate. Not victorious, but it’s always good to suit your needs...
