12 oz. bottle from Capone’s. Pours dark straw with 3-finger white head. Nose is pale malt, spicy yeasty notes, and funky resiny hops. Tastes hoppy, resiny, with an overabundance of IBUs relative to the malt. Like a souped up Hop Devil with less malt and more hops. Stays resiny throughout.

Bottled. Poured clear lighter orange with a short, dense cap of white head. The aroma picked up sweet, lightly toasty pale and bready malts with lemon and floral accents.. a touch of honeyed backing.. well-balanced and pleasant. The flavor found honey and bready malts at the core, a touch tangy along with grassy bitterness on the edges.. more bitter, picking up some lemon on the finish. Lighter-bodied and a tad sharp on the palate.. too many sugars to be really refreshing.. a decent drinker overall.

Yay! A new Victory beer! 12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear golden copper color with a medium sized bubbly tan head. Good head retention and decent lacing. Aroma of earthy and peppery hop notes, along with some floral and citrus notes as well, and faint caramel malts. The taste is pale biscuity malts, bitter herbal hop notes and a caramel finish. Medium bodied. Not my favorite Victory beer, but still solid.

2011-04-17. Crisp orange body, modest white head. 3+ Modest hoppy aroma highlighted by mild but pleasant citrus character. Flavour is similar, with pleasant citrusy hops, very light resin character and modest bitterness throughout. Average palate. Not as assertive as my preference but this is quite pleasant and eminently drinkable. Bottle shared by Radek

Cask version at Winking Lizard’s 3rd Annual Real Ale Fest (03/26/11): Pours a hazy orange color with a thin off-white head that recedes quickly. Spotty lacing. Aroma of herbal hops and citrus. Medium body with a fruity character and notes of hops and spices as well as sweet malt. The finish is mildly hoppy up front with a fruity finish. Decent overall.

Crystal clear dark golden ale wearing a gentle white cover. Cerealic, minimally honeyed crystal malts are dominated by the resinous, flowery hops. In mouth, it has a toastier feel than I’d expected, being fairly malty albeit not too sweet and remaining easy to drink. A balanced bitterness climbs up with the sips, throwing coniferous, leafy and flowery notes that, while not particularly citrusy, still bring on a fairly acidic profile, adding to the refreshment significantly. Relatively simple to be honest and not something particularly distinctive, but otherwise, its stricking feature is certainly its remarkable cleanliness, rolling on the palate like a lager would while its small bubbles add a crispy touch that I appreciate.
