The pure water we receive from the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek that begins its journey to us just under 14 miles from where we brew with it. We’ll be celebrating this water (insert your lite beer joke here) with our anniversary beer, Headwaters Pale Ale, due to be released February 15, 2011. Now, considering that beer is the product of four simple ingredients and the three other than water rely on water for their existence, we’ve had a fair amount of latitude in paying homage to water in our beer. So, we’ve played all of our cards deftly, bringing the hops, malt and yeast in harmony, with our great local water as the conductor in Headwaters Pale Ale.

Bottle poured an nice cloudy light brown with yellow hues, light white head that dissipated quickly, aroma is kind of herbal/woody and taste is hoppy but not overwhelming. Another nice offering from Victory.

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2013 [firkin] Pleasant, smooth. Could have used just a tad more carbonation from the gravity pour, would like to try it in bottle or draft. A somewhat less aggressive APA hopwise, a nice change from some of the APA/IPA blurring that goes on. Nice looking in the glass, very quaffable. [update 5/28/13] I like the flavor of this beer and I really should try it with normal carbonation. But this time around it was on the hand pump and I just thought it didn’t stand up. Too thin, downing the palate...

A Gorgeous, floral-hopped pale ale. Clean finish, good mouth feel, lots of refreshing citrus and (dare I say) geranium on the palate. A top quality ale (and easily my favorite) from the solid brewery that is Victory. Akin to similar hopped brews such as Daisy Cutter and Gumball Head.

Vestergaard (1107) - Aarhus C, DENMARK - MAR 15, 2015
Tap at Fermentoren Aarhus. Pours a clear amber with a medium sized, white, long lasting head. Aroma is not very intense. Bitter, grassy, piney hops, sweeter pale malts and some citrus. Taste is pretty bitter up front, very nice pine, slight malty sweetness, but just a plain, crisp pale ale. Medium carbonation, smooth but crisp body.

Kind of creamy, malty, and hoppy. Some spiced and roasted malts. Enjoyable. Slightly bland but a good brew.

Poured from bottle. Grapefruit hop aroma. Nice looking amber, lacing. Same grapefruit hop in flavor dominates. Sweet malt flavor in front, dry in back. Crisp, clean feel. Just right amount of carbonation. Good finish. Great beer.

The beer poured a hazed dark golden orange with a light tan head that lasted a while. Aroma is honey, grass, citrus and weak caramel. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. Flavour is light grapefruit, grainy malt, and notes of light sweetness.

Bottle from GE Altoona. Pours yellow with fizzy white head. Smells line cat piss and grapefruit. Mildly bitter with lots of fruit, pineapple, grapefruit, lemon and orange. Malt backbone is there. Not bad.

Copper pour with a thin white head. Aoma is malty with a bit of citrusy hops. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. This one is primarly malty with a bready/grainy flavor with the hops with a subtle citrus hop flavor. Slightly bitter finish but short. Clean, crisp flavor and finish but nothing here is blowing my mind.
