COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The pure water we receive from the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek that begins its journey to us just under 14 miles from where we brew with it. We’ll be celebrating this water (insert your lite beer joke here) with our anniversary beer, Headwaters Pale Ale, due to be released February 15, 2011. Now, considering that beer is the product of four simple ingredients and the three other than water rely on water for their existence, we’ve had a fair amount of latitude in paying homage to water in our beer. So, we’ve played all of our cards deftly, bringing the hops, malt and yeast in harmony, with our great local water as the conductor in Headwaters Pale Ale.

12 oz. bottle via trade with smith4498 - Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a 1/2 finger thick off white head. Very light spotty lacing. Aroma is pine and citrus hops. Flavor is mostly the fore mentioned hops with some lightly sweetened malt. Finish is slightly astringent. Medium body. A nice beer. Thanks Jason.

Light amber/golden yellow with a thin white head. Low carbonation and light lacing. Aroma is of grapefruit, light pine needles, and a touch of sweetness. Flavor is of sweet citrus and first but ends in a bitter pine needle finish. Light /medium bodied and refreshing.

Bottle. Pours a dark gold with a cream-colored, large-grained head. Nose is lime, ruby red grapefruit, and rosemary. Drinks astringent, with strong hops notes underpinned with some roast malt. Definite floral notes on the close, along with a clean finish. An excellent example of the style.

Light amber, average carbonation. Aroma/flavor are full of citrus up front with a light caramel touch. Aftertaste is a light and mild lingering bitterness that is slightly grassy as opposed to citrusy or floral, making it rather pleasant and drinkable as a flavorful session ale.

On tap, of all places, Moon Golf Club in Moon PA. Although not great, not a bad beer. Strong balance of hops and malts, good head retention, bready flavor, enjoyable. Good brew for an APA.

Slight hazy gold, thin beige head. Aroma of grain and oranges. Taste is more bitter than most APA’s, decent amount of grapefruit and resin, good malt balance too, could use more floral and lighter citrus hop flavor. Still a great beer though, just more like an IPA.

12oz bottle 6/11/11 (Binny’s Plainfield Singles Rack)-51° in Lager Glass-Pours a clear dark golden with small white head. Aroma of hops, malt, and slight caramel. Taste of the same with the malt coming out on the back end. This medium bodied brew is well balanced and goes down very easy . Nice brew.

Bottle - Pours golden amber with a thick bubbly white head. Smells pretty earthy, with big yeasty malt and some juicy citrsy and herbal hops. Taste is pretty smooth and balanced, with subdued grassy/herbal bitterness, a decent light bread malt backbone, and a subtle yeastiness. A little watery, but a fine session beer. As always with Victory, feels quality and well put-together.
