COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The pure water we receive from the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek that begins its journey to us just under 14 miles from where we brew with it. We’ll be celebrating this water (insert your lite beer joke here) with our anniversary beer, Headwaters Pale Ale, due to be released February 15, 2011. Now, considering that beer is the product of four simple ingredients and the three other than water rely on water for their existence, we’ve had a fair amount of latitude in paying homage to water in our beer. So, we’ve played all of our cards deftly, bringing the hops, malt and yeast in harmony, with our great local water as the conductor in Headwaters Pale Ale.

Very organic taste. Fresh, yet subsided by the stuff that makes things organic. It seems this brew was a solid pale ale at first but then went through a clarifying process that dumbed it down some. Its still solid, yet lacks the hop bite and forcefullness that would make it a super pale ale. Bronzed copper in color, a head the digs deep at first and then simmers down to a flat striaght while always there. Organic wheat and soli mix the smell with tangerine and citrus running in the background. Very fresh taste, very likeable brew. A solid, though less than stellar, pale ale. 12oz bottle poured into a Cabin 2011 Pilsner glass.

(12oz bottle best by Jul 18, 2011 thanks to Dixonian) clear orange-ish with a ring of white bubbles. Nose of umami, orange/grapefruit, pine, a bit candied citrus, and bread. Taste of bread, candied citrus, spicy, and rye. An oily body with a nice linger.

Strong grapefruit aroma. Light colored. Lots of grapefruit and resin. Oily mouthfeel. Moderate level of bitterness. Should be good, but didn’t speak that much to me.

Pours a deep golden color with a fair head. A well built pale with heavy hop presence and a slight bitter aftertaste. Hops have that piney, floral notes of possibly Cascade. With a manageable alcohol content a quite refreshing pale.

A nice crisp refreshing pale ale with lots of flavor. A good beer when it’s way too hot for hop devil.

12 oz.bottle. Pours a thin, short duration white head, over a clear, light amber (SRM7) body....nose is citrus, pine, toffee....taste is pine, grapefruit peel, light toffee.caramel, touch of cereal, finishing with a medium resin layer....mouth feel medium, carbonation high. This is a fairly typical APA. It has a nice hop bite, balanced by the malts, finishing clean and crisp. BJCP 7/3/14/4/7

Pours deep amber into a tulip. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to pancake surface. Sour feet aromas. Soft with upfront caramel turning to marshmallow before the lasting pine finish.

12oz Bottle, purchased at Wakefield Liquors - Wakefield, RI. Blazingly clear, filtered pale orange, with a nice foamy head. Aromas bring flinty, minerally cirtus and pine up. Crisp, juicy and nicely bitter. A reasonable balance of well-constructed malt sugar and C-hop bitterness. It’s good, not crazy and on pace for a mass-produced American Pale Ale.
