COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The pure water we receive from the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek that begins its journey to us just under 14 miles from where we brew with it. We’ll be celebrating this water (insert your lite beer joke here) with our anniversary beer, Headwaters Pale Ale, due to be released February 15, 2011. Now, considering that beer is the product of four simple ingredients and the three other than water rely on water for their existence, we’ve had a fair amount of latitude in paying homage to water in our beer. So, we’ve played all of our cards deftly, bringing the hops, malt and yeast in harmony, with our great local water as the conductor in Headwaters Pale Ale.

Bottle. Amber beer with a good head. The aroma is mildly hopped, and the flavour is fairly well hopped and bitter with quite a deep finish. Overall a fairly average pale ale style beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap. Pours with a clear, pale yellow body with a white head. Aromas are grassy, grainy, lime and citrus. Flavors are grainy, cornbread and light citrus. Grain is the dominating flavor, not hops (and this is fresh). Lively and dry.

A nice pale ale. Aroma was nice and mellow. An even mix of chewy caramel and grassy hops. Pour was a nice medium gold with a one finger white head. Taste was very even and balanced. The caramel makes the beer sweet initially and is washed away by the bitter and grassy hops after the swallow. This doesn’t stand out in any way but is a solid beer

12 oz bottle from Pineypower, thanks Dean. Poured a very good looking clear orange/amber body with slight rising effervscence from the center along with an average sized foamy white head. Aroma of crusty bread, lemons, wet grass, dough. Nice body with a medium mouthfeel and stronger tight bubbly carbonation and a short lived burst of bitterness on the aftertaste. Flavor of bread, citrus rind, hops. Solid enough.

Bottle. Deep golden body with a frothy, off-white head, mostly diminishing. Bitter grapefruit in the aroma along with notes of pine, flowers and toasted grain. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Taste of raw grain and leafy hops with some resiny notes. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. OK, but not as clean and refined as better APAs.

Mild aroma, with just a couple of hop notes, more of a caramel aroma. Pours a clear amber, with a dusting of head. Nice hop bite in the start with this beer, with a fairly short finish. This isn’t a bad beer, but there’s very little out of the ordinary about it. Solid and enjoyable, but there are better in the style that are available.

Bottle. Poured clear amber with an average frothy white head that lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate balanced aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonatio. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good brew.
