The radiant energy of the sun gives life to all that we enjoy. Flowing field of barley for malting, surging vines of ripening hops and even pure, clean water owe their vitality to the sun. Just as we do. So in crafting this unique, hazy orange-hued ale, we poured in natureís great gifts of German malts and European hops to feed the dynamic yeast that we imported from Belgium. Here in the quiet tanks of Victory our yeast brought vitality to this Belgian style farmhouse ale. That energy has created impressions that range from lemon peel to black pepper, though such spices are not added. Great with a wide array of foods, count on the bright soul of Helios Ale to bring life to all of your meals!

Bottle from Sonoma Cellars. Pours a brownish orange with a white head leaving long drips of lace. Aroma has fruits and malts and some nuttiness. Taste is of sweet malt, fruit, faint citrus, some tangy herbalness. Light to medium bodied. Finishes with some length. Sweet and tangy. Shrug? Victory underwhelms often - this one is in that line.

UPDATED: DEC 11, 2013 On tap at brewpub. Golden pour with white head. Bread, cloves, pepper, lemon, tangerine. Mild trailing bitterness, moderate sweetness. Light, crisp, body. Update 12/11. Just had this in a 22 oz. bottle. Wow! Much better than on tap. Nice farmhouse, funk aroma in addition to the others previously listed.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a tulip glass. The label has a born on date and an abv listed at 7.5% Appearance: It has a pale golden look in the glass with fine yeast sediment floating inside the body. The body is covered by a two finger tall head that quickly settles down to a thin film cap which makes for some slick lacing on the glass. Smell: In the nose I get a fruity and funky yeast character with some mild spicy, herbal and leafy hop notes. Taste/Palate: On the tongue fruity yeast and bready sweetness moves across the palate and brings some mild sweet/tart apple, lemon and ginger like spice notes. This is balanced with some dry leafy hop bitterness and it finishes with a dry spicy and mild hop character. The palate is well balanced smooth and easy drinking. Notes: Overall a nice beer with some decent layers of flavor within a nice drinkable package.

An aged bottle past its best by date. Aroma is funky, musty and sour. it has an almost aged ale character. It seriously smells like a sour. The taste is not sour, though. It tastes yeasty, slightly aged, some citrus and a funky note. The finish has a nice hop profile. Overall, itís hard to place and Iím not sure how to rate it. Also itís crazy fizzy! Infected? Who knows?

A light beer with a very mild hoppy taste. The after taste is very light and somewhat fruity, like citrus. j I would pair it with......well I wouldnít.

Clear golden with a fast-fading white head. Aroma is of an open field in Belgium; lots of flowers and pollen and lavender and dandelion with a pepperiness I canít put my finger on. Flavor is nice and floral with a balanced bitterness that brings more floral hoppy tones leading to a dry biscuit/barn malt finish. Lots of flowers (and more dandelion) and a little pepper. This seriously tastes more like dandelion than that dandelion beer New Belgium made.

This is a pretty nice citrus-wheat-saison mix. Nothing mind blowing but a unique brew that tantalized the mind!

On tap at The Daily Pint. Looks like liquid gold with a slight haze, thick white head and excellent lace. Light citrus aromas, mostly lemon and grapefruit, with coriander, yeast and spices. Citrus flavor up front, with plenty of style-appropriate funk, barnyard, yeast, earthiness and pepper. Light body, explosive carbonation, prickly mouthfeel and a crisp finish.
