COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The radiant energy of the sun gives life to all that we enjoy. Flowing field of barley for malting, surging vines of ripening hops and even pure, clean water owe their vitality to the sun. Just as we do. So in crafting this unique, hazy orange-hued ale, we poured in nature’s great gifts of German malts and European hops to feed the dynamic yeast that we imported from Belgium. Here in the quiet tanks of Victory our yeast brought vitality to this Belgian style farmhouse ale. That energy has created impressions that range from lemon peel to black pepper, though such spices are not added. Great with a wide array of foods, count on the bright soul of Helios Ale to bring life to all of your meals!

A very nice saison. Lemony with an earthy finish. Light funk and highly carbonated. Tried at the Federal House with Jess in 2014.

Yeasty, funk at it’s best, this is a true Belgian interpretation, ABV well integrated, grass, straw and hay. Golden colour, medium white head, lacing.medium bite, mid-sweet, yeasty and funky, slightly spicy, complex and rewarding. Medium body, lively carbonation, bitter and yeasty finish. Again a very competent Belgian interpretation from this brewery.

Pours a lightly hazed gold color with a white head. I get almost a wheat beer taste up front more than a saison. There is a slight amount if Saison yeast but they are overshadowed juicy fruit gum flavor.

Transferred from BA review on 3-7-12 - Poured from bomber into pint glass Appearance – Pours a hazy orange-golden color with a huge white head. The head it thick and persistent and lasts for some time. It eventually fades giving way to some quite nice lacing on the side of the glass. Smell – A stronger lemon aroma is the first to met the nose and is mixed some sweeter tropical fruit aromas. Strong and very nice. A bready aroma comes on the scene mixed with a nice yeast cake smell. A very nice black pepper smell is there as well, mixing with the sour and sweet aromas quite nicely. Taste – A sour lemony wheat flavor is the first to meet the tongue. The sourness gives way, a bit, to some more malty flavors toward the middle of the taste. The peppery flavor present in the aroma develops more toward the end. It leaves a rather sour yet peppery aftertaste on the tongue. While not awful it is actually slightly off putting. Mouthfeel – The mouthfeel is a little bit creamier and chewier then the average beer, which actually complement the initial taste flavors very well. The higher level of carbonation is quite appropriate for the style of beer and creates a rather satisfying mouthfeel. Overall – For the most part it is really quite a fantastic brew with many great characteristics. Unfortunately, the after taste that it leaves in the mouth, really takes away from the overall enjoyableness of drinking the brew.

From a bottle shared at the DC Epic Sour Beer Tasting. Pours a hazy gold with an off white head. Aroma of banana and bubblegum with some white pepper notes. Bitter finish.

Light, bright gold color, hazy, with small white head and minimal messy lacing. Aroma is very yeasty, spicy and citrusy. Flavor has rich spicy yeasts, grass and hay, light bitter hops and citrus notes. Clean, easy drinking, and delicious!. Pretty cheap for a bomber, too- $5.29

Bottle. Peppery aroma with a bit of farmhouse that comes in with some strawberry and clover honey. Hazy bright yellow under a lacy, white, thin sherry. Sweet pilsner malt with honey holding up pepper and nice horseblanket and with some fruity esters. Medium light body, medium carbonation, crisp.

Bomber into snifter glass, even amber-gold color with bright white head. Aroma of funky yeast, bubble gum, pepper, musty, earthy and slight citrus note. Taste brings out notes of grass hay, bready, grainy, faint lemon and herbal (coriander stands out). Light body, low carbonation, dry, slick with yeast spices as the finish. Pretty tasty farmhouse ale, enjoying this.

2009 bottle, 750 ml, as Victory V Saison. Luckily, not a gusher. Healthy pop of a cork, pours dark yellow, with lots of flakes in suspension. Smell is light malt, with those claimed notes of pepper and citrus peel. At five years old, the scent is still good, just not very "big." Taste is just a bit sweet, and there is some taste of dead yeast floating in it. Gets a little syrupy, but not overbearing. Alcohol is there, but creeps up slowly. It has held up its taste pretty well for the style.
