4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a nice golden yellow with a two finger sticky foam head. On the nose there is some nice barnyard brett, citrus, peppery spice and a touch of floral grassiness. On the palate its follows the nose with complex balance and amazing drinkability. Lemon rind, pepper and lots of farmhouse notes, straw, horse blanket... amazing stuff at 3.49 a 22oz. Damn I cant believe I let this beer slide under my radar.

August 5th, 2013 - Victory Helios’ label can’t help but bring a smile to one’s face. The grinning celestial body could join the pantheon of adorable Japanese mascots, but here instead of sponsoring a prefecture or a beauty cream, the sun is beaming about the Helios brew. True to its label, Helios is a sunny yellow brew, which lights up like a bulb when a ray of sunlight strikes it. A dip of the nose reveals light grape notes, a splash of white vinegar, some creamy Swiss cheese, and a perfumed puff of honeysuckle. It’s a spritz smell, with a nice collection of outdoor, Springy scents. The palate, like the aroma, is trafficked with plenty of bubbles and carbonation, but it calms quickly halfway through the taste, pulling back the curtain and flavors of apple and pear. and a curious taste of live in the aftertaste. It spoils the virtues of the foretaste, but the whole beer shouldn’t be condemned for a bad aftertaste.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber from Bert’s. Tasty and super interesting. So good that I went and got another. Pours a hazy, dirty orange. Just looks Belgian. Tons going on here- spice, yeasty, biscuit, clove, banana, citrus, lemon, straw and a pleasing amount of Brett funk. Slight sourness that intrigues. Finishes crisp and yeasty and earth. 7.5% abv is fairly well done- not overly boozy. Great saison. Loved it. Both times.

Great saison by a great brewer that has a high alchol content but drinks light and smooth. One of my go to summer beers if i can find it.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle @ home. Pours a clear golden liquid. Aroma is funky with barnyard, pepper, vanilla, lemon, peach, hay, toast, some flowers. Crisp and dry flavor with vanilla, sour red apples, lemon, peach, hay, bread. Lingering barnyard, white pepper and lemon. Aftertaste doesn’t really dry out as you would expect from the initial flavor profile, instead there are rather mellow notes of vanilla, earth + bread and a notable bitterness remaining on my tongue.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Really nice grab bag of Belgian stereotypes. Slightly sour nose, funky and citric. The taste is less tart, with allspice and pepper notes intermingling with the acidity. The mouthfeel is surprisingly creamy, which isn't surprising considering the rich head on pouring. Really enjoyable bottle.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This is a good, solid Belgian style ale. It seems like a hybrid of a saison and a tripel. Pours cloudy, deep gold with a slight white head that quickly dissipates, lots of sediment floating around. Aroma of grass, sweet malt, dough, and earth. Nice balance of sweet and bitter, generously hopped but the malt backbone can match it. No real presence of sour like a normal saison. Medium to full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, well balanced finish. Has a soft feel in the mouth, the alcohol is well hidden. Refreshing and easy to drink for 7.5% abv.
