COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The radiant energy of the sun gives life to all that we enjoy. Flowing field of barley for malting, surging vines of ripening hops and even pure, clean water owe their vitality to the sun. Just as we do. So in crafting this unique, hazy orange-hued ale, we poured in natureís great gifts of German malts and European hops to feed the dynamic yeast that we imported from Belgium. Here in the quiet tanks of Victory our yeast brought vitality to this Belgian style farmhouse ale. That energy has created impressions that range from lemon peel to black pepper, though such spices are not added. Great with a wide array of foods, count on the bright soul of Helios Ale to bring life to all of your meals!

Aromas of flowers, peppercorns, lemon peel, toast, and perfume. Slightly hazy, orange-gold, with a beautiful, well-retaining, pillowy, white head. Dry, bitter, tart, fruity, and funky. Medium bodied, carbonation is full and somewhat spicy, a complex ale that cleans up very well as it finishes, leaving behind fresh flowery and fruity flavors.

DATE TASTED: August 16, 2015 ... GLASSWARE: Duvel footed tulip... OCCASION: recovering from a shore trip to LBI... APPEARANCE: a tumultuous twister of bubble stirs the heart of a hazy burnt orange body; head is foamy, white, and full of effervescence, with high arching lacing to boot ... AROMA: banana, clove, soft pepper, and lavender/lilac--complex yet withdrawn... PALATE: to the effect of the aroma, the beer apologizes as it is sipped; foamy and creamy through its great head retention; lively and rounded on the tongue, memorable in its aftertaste with a dry finish... TASTE: clove, banana, vanilla, pepper, grapefruit, apple, biscuit, and some other fruits that are patient yet palpable...the yeasty end suggests dough and read, with floral hops and lemon arriving in waves after the sip has finished... OVERALL: I try not to be biased when drinking big bottles, saisons, or Victory brews, but this glass contains all through with a winning combination--refreshing, complex, vibrant, and flavorful...worthy of a bomber and a Sunday night...

Bottle. Clear, golden-yellow with a white head. The aroma is of citrus, some spice, yeast. The flavour has malt sweetness, some spice (coriander, light pepper), a sweet lime impression, average bitterness, and a dry finish. Good.

Tap at CBM Koenji. Hazy straw with a big soapy white head. Aromas of lemon zest, light barnyard and bright, juicy citrus. Taste is more of the same, with a strong wheat profile. Not much of a saison, but still a refreshing summer beer on a hot night.

Shaker showing neon yellow with sparse clean white foam. The nose shows light Brett. The palate is well carbonated and light bodied. Some notes of Brett but mostly bubble gum and banana. Basically a wheat beer.

Light Golden color. Creamy white head. Soapy and cracked wheat nose. Dry but somewhat hoppy nose. Not really a saison. A bit sweet.

Bottle. Pours a hazy light orange with a thin white head. Aroma of apple and light fruits, hay, funk, wheat malt, lemon. Flavor of light fruits, brett, light tart fruits, musty hay, bready malt. A tasty, lightly funky sasion. Pleasant and easy to drink. A good value beer too ($5.99 bomber!). 8/4/7/4/14 (3.7/5)

Straw yellow color, big puffy head. Effervescent carbonation. Aroma is Belgian funk, biscuit malts, sweet, sugary malts. A touch of white wine, and some dry wheats. The alcohol does not hide. There is pungent sourness above the rim of the glass. Tastes of more white wine, hint of champagne. The brett funk is legit. Very peppery, with some lemon. The wild yeasts really blossom nicely. The feel is thick and has just the tiniest of burns on the way down. For $5.50, at 7.5%, you could get a lot less drunk.

UPDATED: JUN 14, 2015 Sweet and spicy, bitter and fruity. This beer has so much going on itís awesome. Itís a saison with a subtle tartness. I went into this thinking it was going to be a sour bomb but the brett is perfectly blended. Itís tart but you can still taste the saison deliciousness. This is a killer beer and if you like a good saison with a sour edge grab this, itís wonderful.

Bottle from The Drinkery, Londonderry, NH. Aroma is strong fruity pineapple esters, yeasty dough, hints of cereal. Appearance is crystal clear golden yellow with attractive, copious sparkle and fizzy two-finger head with good retention and foamy lacing. Taste is much like smell--yeasty fruity sweetness. I thought I would like it more than I did. Palate is medium bodied with thin texture and lively carbonation--a tad too much. Finish is fairly dry and abrupt. It starts out with great smell and appearance and then fails to deliver all the way through. Still enjoyable but swings and misses for a home run.
