COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Horace ‘Hop’ Wallop headed West a broken man. For it was a certain Miss LuLubelle Lager that had left him, thirsting for more. Drawn by wild tales of the riches of the gold mines, Hop pressed on westward. His last nickel spent on a prospecting pan, Hop’s hunger and thirst got the best of him. Two fistfuls o’ barley and three of some wild and wayward hops tossed in the pan with some clear water was to be his meal. But sleep overcame him and he woke to a bubbling, cacophonous concoction. Overjoyed with the beautiful ale that he had made, Hop realized the secret of the ’green gold’ he had discovered in those fresh hops. Celebrated far and wide, Hop Wallop lives on in this vivid ale with his words, "hoppiness is happiness." As our annual homage to the fresh hop harvest, Hop Wallop is a fragrant experience that delights the tastebuds. Pure gold of color, this ale offers its heady bounty of hops to the adventurous of taste. Bold, bracing and surprisingly refreshing for a strong (8.5% a.b.v.) ale, Hop Wallop lives up to its name and legacy.

light golden color, pine resin aroma, flavor is a kind of soapy pine with a malty finish, pretty good overall

(bottle, 35.5cl) Cloudy, golden colour with a big and blond foamy head. Bready malty aroma with fruity and slightly piney hops, including notes of grapefruits, pine needles and a tinge of vanilla. Moderately bitter and slightly sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a moderate carbonation. Bready (cara-)malt character with fruity and slightly piney hops on a dry mouthfeel; mildly bitter and slightly sweet finish with an aromatic hops character. Well-rounded and very pleasant. 22.I.12

Great looking yellow orange colour, of white head. Floral, spice and some wood. Sweet malt and citrus zest, bitter and dry length, highish ibu,s, enjoyable DIPA.

Bottle
Appearance - Crisp yellow, bubbly, frothy head
Aroma - Light and fruity, floral
Taste - Light hops, citrus, tangy

This beer doesn’t come off as much of a double IPA. The scent is very light... floral and pleasant but hardly any real strong pine scents. As for flavor, there are plenty of hops but it is really dry. Behind all of the hints of hops, the malts come through slowly and surly while maintaining somewhat of a balance. I hate to say this - but I expected more from Victory on this one.

12 oz bottle. This one pours a slightly hazy, golden orange color and topped with a small head of off white foam that shows good retention and leaves thick rings of lacing around the glass. The aroma shows a good amount of orange and grapefruit hops atop a somewhat light and sweet caramel malt back bone. The flavor follows suit with the bitter orange and grapefruit hop bitterness attacking the palate while the caramel malt sweetness adds some nice balance, but it still leans to the hoppy side. Medium bodied with good carbonation that is easy to drink and leads to a citrus bitter finish. Tasty beer for sure, but it just seems to lack the depth and mouthfeel that you would find in an imperial ipa.

A yellow beer with a medium and blond head. Strong, tropical fruity aroma flows out of the glass, peaches and lots of fructose sweetness, some pine forest. Taste is also tropical fruity, lot of bitterness and thus, taste dries, piney/grassy bitterness and dry, long aftertaste. Full- bodied, slippery, slightly sticky to drink, that fitts nicely in this beer. Good and rich beer, however, maybe too heavy and overeated.

Bottle @ home. Pours a huge, pearl white head and a golden appearance. Cotton candy, earthy, grapefruit citrusy, sweet malty aroma. Fairly potent grapefruit citrusy, a touch resiny, earthy hoppy flavor with a moderately bitter, citrusy finish. Pretty tasty.

Pours bright orange with thin white head. Lovely citrus on the nose, bit of grass & pine too. Nice crisp citrus taste, with a lingering piney bitterness - a very refreshing DIPA that really does belie its 8.5%. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
