COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Horace ‘Hop’ Wallop headed West a broken man. For it was a certain Miss LuLubelle Lager that had left him, thirsting for more. Drawn by wild tales of the riches of the gold mines, Hop pressed on westward. His last nickel spent on a prospecting pan, Hop’s hunger and thirst got the best of him. Two fistfuls o’ barley and three of some wild and wayward hops tossed in the pan with some clear water was to be his meal. But sleep overcame him and he woke to a bubbling, cacophonous concoction. Overjoyed with the beautiful ale that he had made, Hop realized the secret of the ’green gold’ he had discovered in those fresh hops. Celebrated far and wide, Hop Wallop lives on in this vivid ale with his words, "hoppiness is happiness." As our annual homage to the fresh hop harvest, Hop Wallop is a fragrant experience that delights the tastebuds. Pure gold of color, this ale offers its heady bounty of hops to the adventurous of taste. Bold, bracing and surprisingly refreshing for a strong (8.5% a.b.v.) ale, Hop Wallop lives up to its name and legacy.

Poured into tulip. Hazy golden color with small thin head. Slight lace on glass. An east coast high hoped beer. Aroma is slight citrus. Mouth feel is slightly oily with average carbonation. Finish is less citrus more pine. Overall an enjoyable brew.

Bottle at The Beer Bistro Hazy, amber pour, with a big thick, sticky, eggshell head. Quite a nice aroma of pungent pine hops, with hints of citrus, but the pine dominates with a nice amount of chewy, bready malts. The mouthfeel is thick, and a little viscous, and the carb is quite soft. The finish is very piney, even a tad soapy. Some light citrus shows up, but is then vigorously beat down by more pine. A long heavy bitter finish, with huge pine, and soapy notes.

Bottle (12 oz). Hazy golden with a medium fully lasting white head and some lacing. Aroma is of piney hops along with malt and grapefruit. Taste is moderately sweet with oily hops, pine, citrus and moderate bitterness. Medium body. Low to moderate carbonation. Oily mouthfeel. I drank it only a couple of weeks after buying it at Julio’s Liquor, but I’m not sure that it’s really fresh. One of the most oily DIPA I’ve tried so far. Decent.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 1/21/2014. Pours moderately cloudy golden amber color with a 2 finger dense and rocky cream colored head with incredible retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of pineapple, lemon zest, tangerine, orange zest, grapefruit, floral, grass, light pine, light honey, bread, and floral earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity of hop notes with a moderate malt balance; and good strength. Taste of pineapple, tangerine, lemon zest, orange zest, grapefruit, floral, grass, light pine, light honey, bread, and floral earthiness. Fair amount of earthy floral bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pineapple, tangerine, orange zest, lemon zest, floral, grass, light pine, and bread on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of hop flavors; with a moderate malt balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly slick, crisp, and fairly sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice DIPA. All around good balance and complexity of hop and light malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

Had this a while ago early in my IPA days. Not sure why I never rated it. At that time it was about the hoppiest thing i ever had. Straight hop and bitter. God stuff but at $16 a 6 a little to much sticker shock.

Pours a clear golden with a thin white head that has good retention and offers OK lacing. Aroma is piny hops over a sweet background. Taste is indeed sweet but well balanced by a medium level of bitter. Flavors of citrus and pine overall. Medium bodied, light carbonation. Fun!

Wait, this was retired?? I remember this being a beer with an aggressive earthy hop presence balanced out with a heady malt bill. One of the first big hoppy beers I ever had. Fond memories.

Bottle poured into a Pint glass Poured a golden, strawberry blonde color with a frothy white three finger head with a moderate duration. Light carbonation, slight cloudiness, minimal lacing. The aroma is of grapefruit with a sugary honey like addition. Full bodied. Very well balanced, the best of any Imperial IPA I’ve had. Citrusy hop forward with a candy like sweetness featured in the strong malty back end. Very enjoyable to taste, drink, and smell, I highly recommend you give Victory Hop Wallop a try if you haven’t already.
