Horace ‘Hop’ Wallop headed West a broken man. For it was a certain Miss LuLubelle Lager that had left him, thirsting for more. Drawn by wild tales of the riches of the gold mines, Hop pressed on westward. His last nickel spent on a prospecting pan, Hop’s hunger and thirst got the best of him. Two fistfuls o’ barley and three of some wild and wayward hops tossed in the pan with some clear water was to be his meal. But sleep overcame him and he woke to a bubbling, cacophonous concoction. Overjoyed with the beautiful ale that he had made, Hop realized the secret of the ’green gold’ he had discovered in those fresh hops. Celebrated far and wide, Hop Wallop lives on in this vivid ale with his words, "hoppiness is happiness." As our annual homage to the fresh hop harvest, Hop Wallop is a fragrant experience that delights the tastebuds. Pure gold of color, this ale offers its heady bounty of hops to the adventurous of taste. Bold, bracing and surprisingly refreshing for a strong (8.5% a.b.v.) ale, Hop Wallop lives up to its name and legacy.

Pours a clear golden with a thin white head that has good retention and offers OK lacing. Aroma is piny hops over a sweet background. Taste is indeed sweet but well balanced by a medium level of bitter. Flavors of citrus and pine overall. Medium bodied, light carbonation. Fun!

Wait, this was retired?? I remember this being a beer with an aggressive earthy hop presence balanced out with a heady malt bill. One of the first big hoppy beers I ever had. Fond memories.

Bottle poured into a Pint glass Poured a golden, strawberry blonde color with a frothy white three finger head with a moderate duration. Light carbonation, slight cloudiness, minimal lacing. The aroma is of grapefruit with a sugary honey like addition. Full bodied. Very well balanced, the best of any Imperial IPA I’ve had. Citrusy hop forward with a candy like sweetness featured in the strong malty back end. Very enjoyable to taste, drink, and smell, I highly recommend you give Victory Hop Wallop a try if you haven’t already.

Pours hazy golden with thick bubbly white head. Aroma is juicy citrus, pine, floral and resinous hops. Taste is juicy citrus hops upfront with some sweet caramel and bready malt notes on the follow through. Aftertaste is lingering citrus and floral/grassy/pine hops bitterness. Palate is medium and sticky. Overall this is an outstanding double ipa with great balance between the hoppy punch and malt. Sad to hear this one is going away.

Bottle pour to shaker. Small head; shiny, translucent copper. Sour fruit nose. Piney and medium bitterness and subtle hoppiness.

Very, very good beer. Light orange pour with a quick head, soft floral aroma that belies what follows. And wow, does the hop ever follow. Beautifully bitter, slight resin finish with a hard-sweet backbone. Not malty to me, a sharp rock candy sweetness followed the bitter hop blast. High in alcohol but a very nice and balanced package. Would I drink again? absolutely. Would I order again? yes please.

355 ml bottle at the beerbistro. Pours a cloudy orange colour with small but dense white head. Aroma is sweet fruit, booze and spicy hops. Flavour has lots of sweet ripe light and dark fruit, big spicy hops and lots of booze. Pretty big spicy bitterness in finish. Decent.

GCB: Really hoppy and bright IPA. I wish this one was still around as I would get it again for sure.

Clear golden color with a fluffy white head. Great fresh hop nose with lots of resin and citrus notes. Big sweet taste with lots of candied grapefruit rind, tangerine, apricot, peach, pine, and lots of malts underneath. This is a great hop head beer.

Bottle pour into cold glass. Yellowish heavy head. Light orangish or almost yellowish color. Light haze. This is a good and hoppy beer. I'll definitely get again (plus I live Hop's story!).
