COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Horace ‘Hop’ Wallop headed West a broken man. For it was a certain Miss LuLubelle Lager that had left him, thirsting for more. Drawn by wild tales of the riches of the gold mines, Hop pressed on westward. His last nickel spent on a prospecting pan, Hop’s hunger and thirst got the best of him. Two fistfuls o’ barley and three of some wild and wayward hops tossed in the pan with some clear water was to be his meal. But sleep overcame him and he woke to a bubbling, cacophonous concoction. Overjoyed with the beautiful ale that he had made, Hop realized the secret of the ’green gold’ he had discovered in those fresh hops. Celebrated far and wide, Hop Wallop lives on in this vivid ale with his words, "hoppiness is happiness." As our annual homage to the fresh hop harvest, Hop Wallop is a fragrant experience that delights the tastebuds. Pure gold of color, this ale offers its heady bounty of hops to the adventurous of taste. Bold, bracing and surprisingly refreshing for a strong (8.5% a.b.v.) ale, Hop Wallop lives up to its name and legacy.

Pours a rich amber, with medium head and a lot of carbonation present. Lot of citrus, a little skunky on the finish. Not a top notch double IPA, but not a terrible one.

There is a huge citrus and citrus hop aroma. I smell banana and oats with tons of hop. Appearance is perfectly golden with a huge foam head. Upon tasting I am greeted with a moderate hoppy bitterness followed by a slight malty finish. For the beer called "Hop Wallop" I was expecting a lot more hops. Overall, this is an above average beer with an elevated hoppiness. Not too much flavor going on, just some piney hops with malty background. I’d give this beer a B rating.

On cask, from notes, Dinner @ Sierra. Color is decent, a cloudy almost wheat hue, decent thick head. Aromas are light, bitter and citrusy in the nose, but very light. Palate is smooth, hops are almost not noticeable in the cask. I do prefer this in the bottle and cold, but the cask is an interesting shot. Glad I had it.

Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Light golden brew with frothy head. Great aroma of spruce, citrus, a little malt lurking int he background. Taste is a wee hint of malitness for an instant at the start of the swallow, followed by a very pronounced and tasty hoppiness that grows until it breaks with a fine bitter finish. An undertoe of malt maintains a prescence throughout the swallow. Not a hint of booziness for a strong brew, surprising how much flavor is packed in this given the color and appearance. And amazinginly, it is relatively light and avoids the ponderousness that some DIPA’s fall prey to. This is good, very good...
