COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Horace ‘Hop’ Wallop headed West a broken man. For it was a certain Miss LuLubelle Lager that had left him, thirsting for more. Drawn by wild tales of the riches of the gold mines, Hop pressed on westward. His last nickel spent on a prospecting pan, Hop’s hunger and thirst got the best of him. Two fistfuls o’ barley and three of some wild and wayward hops tossed in the pan with some clear water was to be his meal. But sleep overcame him and he woke to a bubbling, cacophonous concoction. Overjoyed with the beautiful ale that he had made, Hop realized the secret of the ’green gold’ he had discovered in those fresh hops. Celebrated far and wide, Hop Wallop lives on in this vivid ale with his words, "hoppiness is happiness." As our annual homage to the fresh hop harvest, Hop Wallop is a fragrant experience that delights the tastebuds. Pure gold of color, this ale offers its heady bounty of hops to the adventurous of taste. Bold, bracing and surprisingly refreshing for a strong (8.5% a.b.v.) ale, Hop Wallop lives up to its name and legacy.

Pours an almost pilsner gold, a bit hazy with a thin white head. Aromas of grapefruit, and pine. Tastes of pine, and biter floral hops, some spruce, and finishes of on a very noticeable and sweet hit of grapefruit. Very good, not as bitter as I thought it would be. A sweet double IPA.

12oz bottle. Pours a clear deep golden color with a finger of white fluffy head. Aroma of citrus and earthy hops. Tastes of grapefruit, citrus zest, pine, pineapple, and bit of a sweet malt backbone.

Bottle at Crown and Anchor, Brixton. Hazy orange, small bubbles. White head with great lacing. Slightly funky, earthiness on nose but fruit still there. Earthy, grapefruit, not much malt and ending in boozy bitterness. Not too shabby. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Copper color with a big fluffy head. Huge hop aroma. Lots of grass and pine scents. Flavor is not as bitter as the aroma suggests. Easy to drink. Highly enjoyable!

Hoppy (of course) and citrus aroma. Beautiful frothy white head. Golden color on the lighter side. Got a nice hop but light taste, kinda like the smell. Bright floral and herbs taste! The Hop Monster strikes again! I would like to eat this with hops...i mean lunch, like a BLT. mmm.BLT. agaaggghhh.

Bottle. Pours a mostly clear copper with two fingers of fine, off-white head. Good retention with some thin sheets of lacing. Aroma is hoppy, resinous, piney, citrus, and fruity/floral. Flavor is piney and bitter up front, citrus, apple, fruity, with a hoppy finish and bitter aftertaste that sticks around. Rather good masking of alcohol. Moderate carbonation, medium-light body, and crisp texture. Overall an enjoyable beer, a fruity, hoppy, relatively strong IPA. Has long been one of my favorites.

UPDATED: MAY 7, 2013 I read other reviews of this beer and note that people downrate this beer for lack of malt. There is plenty of malt, at least for me, up front. It quickly gives way to the namesake "hop wallop". Piney, resiny, and a hint of grapefruit, I finished it off, and almost a half hour later I still had the bitterness on my tongue. Not for the novice, but true hopheads should love it. Defintely would buy again, but won’t replace my go to Lagunitas’ Maximus and Brown Shuga
