COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Horace ‘Hop’ Wallop headed West a broken man. For it was a certain Miss LuLubelle Lager that had left him, thirsting for more. Drawn by wild tales of the riches of the gold mines, Hop pressed on westward. His last nickel spent on a prospecting pan, Hop’s hunger and thirst got the best of him. Two fistfuls o’ barley and three of some wild and wayward hops tossed in the pan with some clear water was to be his meal. But sleep overcame him and he woke to a bubbling, cacophonous concoction. Overjoyed with the beautiful ale that he had made, Hop realized the secret of the ’green gold’ he had discovered in those fresh hops. Celebrated far and wide, Hop Wallop lives on in this vivid ale with his words, "hoppiness is happiness." As our annual homage to the fresh hop harvest, Hop Wallop is a fragrant experience that delights the tastebuds. Pure gold of color, this ale offers its heady bounty of hops to the adventurous of taste. Bold, bracing and surprisingly refreshing for a strong (8.5% a.b.v.) ale, Hop Wallop lives up to its name and legacy.

Clear, light gold colored pour with a small, short-lived, white head. Sweet citrus and honey aroma with hints of pine. The flavor is very piny and floral. Especially lingering on the back of the tongue. There’s some notable sweetness and grapefruit that hits your tongue first and fades, then leaving a lasting bitterness. The middle of the flavor is somewhat artificial and soapy which is a little off-putting. I think it’s coming from a big dose of fusel alcohol. There’s some nice hop notes in there but it’s just way out of balance. The body is also a bit on the thin side and heavy on the carbonation.

I was not expecting to see this on draft but when the opportunity presented itself last fall I did not hesitate. A very nice release definite packs a Wallop that hits you multiple times with flavor and depth. Typical of Victory, this is a prototypical Eastern IPA.

Aroma / Appearance - A creamy orange base glimmers with light below lazy legs and stiff white head. Citrus, grapefruit, and bright hops warm the air. This is not meek about trying to compete with the other imperial IPAs.

Flavor / Palate - Smooth despite the high gravity, this mixes malts with hoppy mangoes. The warm finish flows and sticks to the throat. A solid release is worth drinking fresh although it will probably morph into a nice barleywine with due time.

Aroma - not an overwhelming aroma, but definately something there. Sweet Piney smell. Appearance - Cloudy orange hazy color. Taste - Nice balance between hops and malt. Nice mouth feel. Orange peel Palate - Very nice. Lingers in the mouth nicely Overall - Very good beer. I would have it again. Not as "hoppy" as the name suggests though.

I just did my 2nd sampling of this brew, it wasn’t any better then first a few months ago. I like many of the Victory line up, but this iPA doesn’t do it for me. Maybe to hoppy?

From notes. A decent DIPA, but very sweet. Definitely hoppy, very sweet with some floral notes, grass. Retired now, indifferent on the beer.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein orangegoldenes Bier mit geringer aber schönen Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr malzig herb, fruchtig, tropische Früchte. Geschmack stark malzig bitter, fruchtig herb, minimal würzig.

Golden pilsner like color. Small to no head and little odor, perhaps grainy if any odor at all. Flavor is nice grassy citrus hop flavors with a light subtle effervescent finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Aroma has notes of flowers, grapefruit, citrus, tropical fruits and toasted malts. Medium yellow/amber hue with an average white head that mostly diminished and left decent lace. Flavor is very sweet and bitter. Palate is full bodied and watery with a soft carbonation and long bitter finish. Overall a nice IIPA from Victory.

Pours gold with a medium white head. Aroma is mango and tropical fruits with some faint peppery spice. Taste is initially the same, but the flavors evolve somewhat on the palate. The finish is a nice mellow bitterness.
