COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Horace ‘Hop’ Wallop headed West a broken man. For it was a certain Miss LuLubelle Lager that had left him, thirsting for more. Drawn by wild tales of the riches of the gold mines, Hop pressed on westward. His last nickel spent on a prospecting pan, Hop’s hunger and thirst got the best of him. Two fistfuls o’ barley and three of some wild and wayward hops tossed in the pan with some clear water was to be his meal. But sleep overcame him and he woke to a bubbling, cacophonous concoction. Overjoyed with the beautiful ale that he had made, Hop realized the secret of the ’green gold’ he had discovered in those fresh hops. Celebrated far and wide, Hop Wallop lives on in this vivid ale with his words, "hoppiness is happiness." As our annual homage to the fresh hop harvest, Hop Wallop is a fragrant experience that delights the tastebuds. Pure gold of color, this ale offers its heady bounty of hops to the adventurous of taste. Bold, bracing and surprisingly refreshing for a strong (8.5% a.b.v.) ale, Hop Wallop lives up to its name and legacy.

taste test between Heavy Seas Loose Cannon and Victory Hop Wallop. Both are excellent. Prefer the Heavy Seas taste but the Hop Wallop lasts on the palate a bit longer, a bit more complex. Tough call, both get 4.4..

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel Florentin. Thanks Shmupi. Hazy amber with a white film. Spicy, cumin aroma with mild fruity hoppiness. Sweet bubblegum and a little oxidized taste. Medium body, bubblegum finish.

Hop wallop is a cool story and this golden beer is alot of fun. This beer is bold and adventures. Not a late bloomer. Great aroma.

(from notes) - served in pint glass A - hazy yellow/orange capped with medium eggshell head. Head has modest retention. Ample, fine carbonation. Aroma of citrus hops and malt. Mild aroma for style and taste. T - "Hop Wallop"? Yes, but amply tempered with a generous load of caramel malt. Has bitter (lemony grapefruit) hop finish and aftertaste true to style. Pronounced citrus and pine notes to hops. M - brisk and a bit tingly; medium body; D - a good sipper, although I notice it is disappearing rather quickly; a good session beer too, but watch out for that 8.5% ABV which is not obvious via aroma or taste.

"no doubt i had a bad one, even though the date on the label had not passed...but the spoiled version is all i have to go on. too bad...Storm King was really good, and I just finished an Alesmith IPA & wanted to compare. This one smelled spoiled & skunky, although there was still a hint of the choice hops that were there, it actually looked good on the pour...even if the head was a little much. Body was nice too, but since it was bad, the flavor made it so i only wanted one swig. not available anywhere near Reno, so I’ll rerate if i ever find it again. Man...i’d planned on sampling Green Flash IPA, but this spoiled crap ruined my palate for the night! rerate from a spoiled 2.3... got a good batch this time. got a touch of skunk in the nose before the hops, but maybe it was in my head. it disappeared when i poured. thinner but smoother than i was expecting. quite hoppy and complex, but not a huge 2ipa, which i guess is both good and bad. solid, grapefruit hops. very very smooth. 9/09 same on tap."

Rated based on notes taken 18 Jul 2011 -- A nice IPA. Hops are slightly underwhelming, mostly bittering. Not much flavor and aroma hops.

from a 33cl poured a hazy golden body with a nice creamy off-white head that staid some time. Aroma is wonderful, hops, candy, spices and flowers. Flavors of malts, floral, sweet and herbal hops, slightly spicy, peppery. Alcohol, bitterness, nice strong body. Nice strong complex flavors, long lasting bitter taste in mouth, very enjoyable. Great Brew.

Gold with big foamy head and lots of sediment. Resinous hop aroma. Taste- first thing noticed is the sweet fruity malt. Tropical fruit. Hops hit you next...piney and resinous. Just a tad soapy. Overall, very nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
