3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Onslow (639) - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA - APR 16, 2011
Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Clearm orange-amber brew with a modest off white head. Nice aroma of floral and citrus hops. A little sweet malt at the very start of the swallow transitioning to a toasted-buscuit malt then transitioning into a moderately hoppy finish. Hops are primarily lforal with a few citrus and grassy elements. From the name I was expecting a highly hopped up brew, but this is very moderate. More like a pale ale than an IPA, IMO. But still very fine, very well balanced, very delicious.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 degbert (641) - Austin, Texas, USA - APR 15, 2011
Bottle. Pours a dark amber with a cream colored, large-grained head. Nose is all citrus, but instead of the usual grapefruit it has more of a mandarin orange overtone, with a little spiciness. It tastes big but well-balanced, with a surprisingly rich caramel malty edge and bitterness on the close. Not at all the extreme beer I expected it to be, it’s almost genteel -- and I really like that.

Hoppy profile that is just right. Lasts and lasts, slightly creamy and earthy. Yum

BREW FEST 2011! Aroma is pine and citrus. Light reddish color. Nice hop flavor but not too bitter to make it unbearable. Good flavor of bitter hop, pine trees and grapefruit/citrus. Great IPA. If you’ve never had one, this is a great place to start.

Pour is a deep amber red color, with little to no head. Nose is of citrus and some bread, and obviously hops. Taste is of mild fruit and hops, rather standard ipa.

(Bottle 8/4-2011) A fine example of a true American IPA. 1 month from BB date, but there was still a fair amount of the aroma left. Nice long bitterness, not too strong, but still fills your mouth.

Poured into a SA perfect pint glass. Appears a very dark amber color with a fairly thin white head that doesn’t stick around for long. The nose seems odd. Some earthly scents, and other than that a very sweet nose. The taste is definitely sweeter than I prefer, and the earthy, floral hops just don’t quite fit in here. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied, kind of creamy. Overall, I’ve definitely had better IPAs, kind of disappointed in this.
