3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 iugrad93 (201) - Indiana, USA - FEB 24, 2011
UPDATED: OCT 13, 2011 Nice amber cloudy, color. Aromas of pines and freshness, if that makes any sense. Head is thick and lacing is good. This IPA is bold and malty. Enjoyed the punch it gave me at first sip. The hops are definitely there. Like the bite that it gives and has a great taste with the spices.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 SBor02 (67) - Delaware, USA - FEB 23, 2011
This is nice clear amber beer with a white head. I detected pine and mild floral notes in addition to a very light malty sweetness. There is a quick burst of sweetness that is quickly overtaken by an assertive bitterness that has staying power. There is medium carbonation and medium body. Overall this is a pretty good beer that I do not mind having again and again.

One of the best easy access IPAs out there, great hop profile and malt background, very impressed

5 Treacly, sickly sweet, super-sugary - yikes. Typical sweet US fruity hops too, but they do nothing but emphasise how disgustingly sugary this is.
3 Caramel colour, clear, head settles to a ring.
6+ Better in the mouth than on the nose. Cakey, and a bit spicy, but still very sweet. Hard to distinguish it from most other US hop bombs, simple no subtlety at all.
3+ Soft, smooth, but sticky palate. Slick and sweet.
14 With all the sugar has so much wrong with it, but in the end it’s an enjoyable beer to stick in your gob.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Miksu (3887) - Jyväskylä, FINLAND - FEB 19, 2011
0.355 l bottle at Vihreä Haltiatar, Jyväskylä. Copper to amber color. The aromas of lemony hops, raisins, caramel and nuts. The flavor begins lemony hops with biscuity maltiness in the background. Alcohol dryes the finish which is strongly bitter and slightly soapy. There are also some crisp mineral notes. Bitterness could be softer.

A bit disappointed in this one- guess I had high expectations based on the 99 from y’all. Perfect copper color, generous head, solid aroma. Perfectly carbonated, lively. First taste is good, but finish was off to me. Maybe a bit dry and something else I couldn’t quite place. Still a good beer. Would like to try again. Maybe with some spicy food to stand up to the hops. Or maybe I’m not as much of a hophead as I like to think I am.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 thicksuds (247) - Massachusetts, USA - FEB 15, 2011
Nice pour, inviting crisp clear red color, nice head retention, floral aromatics dominate the nose, taste is full bodied, hints around a hoppy red ale for me, nicely hopped, pleasant taste, a bit more malty than many IPAs, coming through in more of a red color instead of the typical yellow, but very good indeed, nice, above average, doesn’t crack my top 5 but still solid.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 arkurzynski (721) - West Bend, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 15, 2011
Deep apricot amber. Nose is pine/skunky hops and just a touch of caramel/fruit esters. Nice well-rounded, robust hop flavor and bitterness (pine-like) that resides. Definitely a great, non-cloyingly sweet caramel backbone and a bit of mild, mild roast on the back-end. Very clean and crisp, almost lager-esque. Plump on the palate. Just a touch more of the fruity-complexity would have been better, but all-in-all excellent.
