4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
This one surprised me as I was expecting another other-the-top IPA with tons of hops. Instead, I found this to be a mainly floral hop monster, without the scorching bitterness. This makes it a little unbalanced, but great for those who like a session IPA with lots of hops.

poured a hazy amberish orange with a billowing beige head. aroma of citrus, flowers. taste was of grapefruit, orange, with a touch of malt sweetness, with a bitter hop finish. not as balanced as other IPA's and a tad on the thin side, but overall a solid IPA

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: AUG 28, 2003 Tasted in DC from Cairo. Dark Orange colour. Nice tan head. Scent of orange and spice, some mild hoppy bitternes. Flavour has a nice hop bite, but not over bitter. Good malt balance, with a wonderful finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thin looking, amber body with a medium thick, butter colored head. Aroma is sweet and perfumy hops. Mouthfeel is appropriately thin (not watery). Hop flavor is intense, refined and perfectly balanced. You can taste the usual orange and pineapple but the flavor remains nicely bitter and never gets syrupy sweet like most of the Stone IPAs. Aftertaste is grapefruit bitter balanced with some breadiness. This is a well made IPA that delivers extravagant hop flavors without getting carried away and becoming annoying. This is a MUST try for all beer drinkers, even those not fond of the IPA style. Sampled from a 12oz bottle purchased at Total Wine in McLean, VA.

This sure is a powerful and uncompromising brew. Extremely hoppy, not too much. Long spicey aftertaste, extremely pleasant. Great initiative by revolionary Americans!

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a reddish-orange with a nice frothy 1.5 cm white head. Aroma is sweet and sort of sugary that is quite pleasant and rather complex in a way. Start is hoppy, but with a bit of sweetness. This turns into a more mellow sweetness and finishes extremely smooth. Theres a lot going on here, which explains why its such a highly regarded beer. No complaints here.
**after reading previosu ratings on this beer, I dont see where the tasters taste this huge hoppiness. It's there, but not extreme or overbearing at all.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Nice hoppy aroma, pours a nice deep amber with a good head. Tons of hops on the flavor, of course, with just a touch of malt balance.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
I think that the balance just wasn't there in this one. The bottle that I had may have been passed its prime, but it seems that the high hop profile lacked a solid malt balance.

Deep red, blood/brick red hue. Big American hope nose. Finish is quite bitter, likely using high-alpha acid hops. Very little malt balance makes for a hop-head fantasy. Delightful beer, and a must for hop-heads.
