Deep golden color, with sweet hoppy/ piney nose showing carmel and malt. Rich flavor, very piney, with sweet hop finish. The bitterness coats the mouth. Nice beer though a bit out of balance.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Orange/amber color with a nice white head. Hop, citrus aroma doesn’t prepare you for the taste. Great bitter hop flavor with a light citrusy aftertaste. Perfect for
a hot summer day.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
I am not a big IPA fan, but this one was very good. Amber color, cloudy. Mild hop aroma. A complex but well-hopped flavor. Not overwhelmingly hopped-up as many IPAs seem to be. Definitely worth a second try.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cloudy orange liquid, white head. I have a feeling this bottle may be rather old, at least a year, the hop aroma is rather subdued revealing a lot of the malt. Malt has some earthy character, but not particularly sweet. Finish is alcohol warm and cascade bitter, with a touch of the earthy malts.Mouth feel is rather light, watery body, lacking the body of Stone IPA IMO. Would like to try a fresher bottle, an internet order is in order.

UPDATED: OCT 23, 2004 Nice red-amber color with a tight head and heavy lacing. Smells is hoppy, but not as intense as I expected. Still smells great, but definite malt presence in the nose. On taste, definite variet of hop flavors from spice, to piney to citrusy. Very nice texture that is rounded out by a fantastic malt backbone. Sweet with the right dryness in the finish that has you begging for more. Definitely a thirst quencher, definitely a very good IPA, though I’d probably almost lean towards APA, if there is truly a difference...

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a transparent red/amber with a tall ivory head that leaves thick lacing on the glass. Aroma is filled with a sticky hop presence and a nice malty backing. Taste starts slightly sweet and malty and the hopped bitterness fills in very quickly with a citrusy tone. Very smooth and crisp with a slightly dry finish. Good IPA with a ton of bitterness at the end.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
very nice aroma with simmering light amber color. Pours excellect with decent head and instant satisfaction. This beer is unbelieveabley smooth and ridiculously well balanced. Although this is beer is called Hop Devil the hops are relatively tame while the wheatyness of the beer comes through. There flavors of various parts of the harvest and although i dont think i drink a bathtub full, a medium to large sink full would suit me quite nicely!

A very good IPA. Nice copper coloured body, and an intense hoppy aroma and bitter flavor. That being said, it lacks a bit of subtlety and could use a bit more malty flavor to balance out the hops. Still, this is a superb beer.
