draft gbbf: i hadnt had an american beer in 5 weeks and i needed some serious hops. i had already drank 5-6 pints of british bitters and their counterparts. so, we wandered over to see what the americans had brought and poof there was victory. ordered a pint and was blown away by this beautiful hopped up beer. now i cant tell you much about it (citrus piney notes and a huge nose of cascadees) but the blandness of all the cask had gotten to me and they were all tasting about the same. but this was something different and delicious. i'll rerate when i try it again. until then its a high rate. god bless america!

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle Pours a a deep clear amber with little head and not much lacing. Aroma is hops and malt and more hops. Some citrus, and pine. Flavor is pine, spice and grapefruit rind. Feel is light clean and smooth. Lingering bitters on the finish....but not as strong as I feareed with the name Hop Devil.
Not bad for a genre that is not my fav.

Number 50 - - - Smells spicy, hoppy, and I got grapefruit too. Pours a nice amber with a small white head. Has same bitter taste, leaves it stinging my mouth too. Goes down pretty well. I donít like IPAís or ESBís really but this one wasnít that bad. So so for my half way there beer.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Finally got around to reviewing this. Big shimmering rust-orange body, aroma mild pine, watermelon...cotton candy? Taste is full and luscious, bitter all the way through but not at a mouth-puckering level. Malts meld perfectly. As it warms the body gets even bigger, if such a thing were possible. An IPA I would have again. And possibly even a third time.

UPDATED: NOV 28, 2005 Bottle: Poured a clear medium brown beer with a nice head with above standard retention. Aroma is quite nice with the hops defiantly in evidence. Taste is quite refreshing with a nice dosage of hops leaving a very enjoyable bitterness on my tongue. Full body without a hint of the alcohol showing. Great one for Victory.

On cask at the Victory Brewery. Deep amber pour with a generous white head. Beautiful floral nose with a little pine noted. Smooth, oh so smooth. Very mellow, malty, hoppy, creamy. It is hard to beat this on cask.

Amber Coloring. Small Head. I was Scared of What the Hops Attack Might Be....But Very Nice.. Nice and Bitter. I Donít Normally Love IPAís, but This One Is Definitly Worth Appreciating.
