4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle, from Safeway, Shirley, West Midlands. Deep opaque red/brown, with a frothy head, rich in lacing. Heavy, musky aroma of Summer fruits and caramel. Surprisingly easy drinking: chewy toffee flavour, with a short, sharp dry snap at the end, before a smooth aftertaste. Spicy and warming. Top class.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: AUG 4, 2010 Nice sweet fruity aroma and amber brownish red color. Little whittish brown head. Aroma is decieving because there is very little fruit or sweetness to the flavor. Extremely bitter hoppy flavor. Verry hoppy aftertaste.
4/24/04: Third tasting of this beer, and I have to say its taste has grown on me, causing me to raise my rating of it a bit. At first I found the amount of hops almost oppressive, cause there is a ton, but recently I’ve found myself wishing for more hops, so I reach for a hopdevil. If you love hops, you will love this beer.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Clear amber body with a stiff, rocky white head. Mellow caramel aroma with buttery, nutmegy hops. The flavor has more focus on hops and less on malt, but the two are wonderfully blended together. Light bready flavors comprise the malt and resinous pine provides the hops. The finish has a grapefruit rind finish. A very well-executed IPA; the "weak" malt base is appropriately over-whelmed by tasty hops.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: APR 2, 2004 Very mild aroma, earthy hops, and malt. Medium bodied, clean bitterness dominates the slightly sweet malt flavor, a hint of bread. A well crafted brew

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JAN 13, 2007 After the initial pine-citrus hop attack, Hop Devil settles into a full malt mouthfeel, then finishes with a long dry-hopped bouquet. My more recent sample is somewhat less sweet and even more dry-hopped, much to its benefit.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
One of the best ales I have ever tried. Piles the hops up adds a hint of caramel sweetness. An amazing flavour finished off with a smooth aftertaste. If only all ales were this good...

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: FEB 11, 2011 Pours out a medium shade of amber with a nice head. As soon as you pour it, the hop aroma smacks you right in the face and further tempts you to drink it. As the name would suggest, it is very hoppy with a bit of spicyness. This is not a bitter IPA at all, very well balanced

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle pours amber with a white dishwater head.   Carbonation is very light, lacing is decent.   Sweet pine, hops, light caramel, and caraway seed on the nose.   Flavor is semi-sweet, hoppy indeed, smooth, finishes crisp.   Medium bodied, definately an easy drinking IPA.   Quite good.
