3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
tasty but nothing memorable. expensive. with a name like 'hop devil' you'd think it's the most wickedly hoppy beer ever. but it's not! smells great-- amber in color (one of the darker ipa's i've had). sweet, irony, then dry... not much character, but very pleasant.

This beer satisfied my beer thirst. I love how light and crisp it tasted. Also, who can deny a great hoppy smell.. woo hoo!

Tried this beer based on much advice from local hop-heads. Pour is surprisingly clear, the color of Knobb Creek, and with an average head. The hop bouquet as the head slowly dissipated was wonderful, but as the head diminished, so did the excitement of the aroma. As I've so often found, flavor can't always keep up with the billing when the first sip follows such a special opening. The flavor is certainly very hoppy and quite bitter, both pleasantly so, but nothing over the top special, just kind of like sucking on a few hop buds. Probably one of the better IPAs I've had, but hopefully not the best I'll ever have.

The aroma is very hoppy. It has a clean bitter start with sweet notes. Quite hoppy brew. Some caramel finish. Very nice.

Light copper color with a nice bubbly tan head. Aromas of caramel and hops. Alcohol is the first thing I tasted then caramel malts. Very nice.

I have found this beer to vary slightly over several purchases. I bought a case for the holidays this year - not cheap, but a self treat. The aroma is fantastic. The appearance is first rate. The flavor is slightly down a notch only due to an astringency. Still rates in my top 5 IPA's.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JAN 4, 2004 A great aroma comes off a creamy off-white head that slowly snakes down the sides of the glass. There is a slight astringent note that seems to follow the hops bitterness that detracts slightly, and is perhaps the only fault in an otherwise excellent IPA.

Mildly pine and candy aroma. Pours cloudy orange red with a nice tan head. Flavor is somewhat sweet for an IPA with strong hints of spices...maybe ginger? Very bitter and dry finish. A nice IPA, but in my opinion not to the level everyone is rating it at. Especially considering the price! None the less, a good IPA, but not to the level of Stone.

A nice hoppy beer, finishes well, definitely Vicotry's best brew. Has an excellent taste.

Thanks, Scoobyluv! Dark reddish-organge appearance, nice head, good lacing, floral and citrus aroma and taste. Strong tangerine and grapefruit finish.
