Bold, spicy and menacingly delicious, this American-hopped India Pale Ale offers an aromatic punch and then follows through with a lasting, full-bodied finish.

Pours red in color with a head that lasts with good lacing. Aroma of earthy and floral hops. Taste is mostly malty with good hop background. Great IPA.

(bottle) strong floral hoppy aroma - dark orange color - small white head - bitter hoppy flavor, with some maltiness - not quite as hoppy/bitter as the name implies, but very good

[Cask conditioned] Brown coloured. Loads of cascade hops in the aroma. Nice fruity, bitter and dry flavour.

I live in Pennsylvania and have seen this beer many times on the shelf at the distributor. It is brewed locally but I never had an urge to purchase it until seeing the reviews here. This is the best IPA I have ever tasted. Held to light it is a crystal clear deep RED just like the color of the label around the HopDevil. This beer is very smooth with a nice kick to finish. Most other IPA's that I have had always seem to be orange in color and cloudly such as STONE IPA and DogFish. I got my first sample of this in a variety pack along with Golden Monkey, V.Lager and Prima Pils but will be buying another case of HopDevil to share with my friends very soon.

UPDATED: MAY 20, 2004 nice bronze color with a thick off-white head. Not much in the way of lacing. Hops and citrus on the nose. Lots of hops on the tongue. Pine and citrus bursting from this beer. Long lingering dry finish. This is an awesome beer!

(Bottle) Poured an orangish amber color with a thin white head. This brew has a big complex hoppy flavor.

Poured with nice head. Color of orange sunrays in a glass. Lacing was mediocre on the glass. Hops flavor is plentiful with some citrus and spice. Smooth on the palate. Quite a refreshing IPA.

UPDATED: MAR 4, 2004 Light citrus aroma and flavor, which is quickly overpowered by strong hops. I'm a big fan of hops, but I do like the hops being more balanced and integrated with the malt flavors, rather than simply overpowering them with strength. Nevertheless, there are some good hops in this brew, and any hopheads should definately pick up a glass of this.

Flat looking beer with a dryly hopped and very strong aroma. Very bitter and very dry overall. The beer is slightly overrated but it is good.

UPDATED: APR 30, 2008 not really thee hoppiest, as the name seems to express, but certainly fantastic. great malt hop balance. just light enough, just thick enough. sweet stuff / slight caramel, faint apple, mellow bitterness that strikes out in the drinks end. feels good. smells good. drinks good. not perfect, not really world-class, but it is great. UPDATE 8/23/04: not my type of IPA, but it’s still good. sweet, apple, smooth, a bit stale yet not thin at all. it’s got a little spice. still a good brew to me. downrated. UPDATE 4/30/08: almost four years later--neat; nice malt background that is more than typical IPAs provide, with a nicer spice to the hops that is more than typical IPAs provide; a really good IPA.
