Bold, spicy and menacingly delicious, this American-hopped India Pale Ale offers an aromatic punch and then follows through with a lasting, full-bodied finish.

"i’m not having the best of luck with Victory’s hoppy beers...i absolutely love Old Horizontal & Storm King, and expected to love Hop Wallop and Hop Devil as well, but so far, no dice. The single bottle I found of HW last month was spoiled, and I had to rate it as such. This one was not spoiled, but was sampled 3/16/09 and had a best by date of 3/09. I bought ’em anyway...it was that or nothing...but the beer is obviously past it’s prime. It reminded me of a Rogue IPA I kept for too long. Still an ok beer, which once again leaves me to wonder how good it could have been, but for now it’s just ok...subdued hop presence...not really big or juicy, but more spicy. tasted a little old, although the feel was still ok. more hops and a touch of malt on the finish, but not enough. One day I’ll get one at it’s peak... 9/09-finally had one fresh at the pub. almost a 4, but not enough to erase the several spoiled/aged ones i’ve got in bottles. 3.8 tap/3.1-2 bottle. cask didn’t treat it as well, came off too mellow (3.3)"

Surprisingly smooth and drinkable. It’s not bold, it’s not spicy, its not menacingly delicious, it’s just warm blanket delicious. . A good beer to introduce friends to IPA with.

On tap at Øltorget, september 16th 2014. Copper body with a small white head. Aroma is malty with tropical fruits and pine. Taste of caramel, mild hoppy, would have liked a hoppier punch, herbal finish with a strong bitterness, malty aftertaste with citrus notes.

Flaska på Akkurat delad med @msbrindbergs. Mörk Bärnstensfärgad vätska med stort skum. Ipa som gå åt det barriga hållet. Välbalanserad mellan fruktighet och beska.

Flaska på Akkurat. Klar rödbrun vätska, mastigt skum. Doftar av granskog. Smakar kraftigt av tung humle. Stor beska stannar kvar. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a clear bright orange copper with a nice foamy ecru head that sustains well and leaves very nice lacing. Aroma is citrusy and herbal with some caramel undertones. Taste is citrus juice with some herbal and spicy hop flavor, some caramel malt and a pleasant earthy grapefruit rind bitterness. Finishes with a bit of sweetness and bitter. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Very nice and well made IPA. Would drink again.

The body is clear with a deep orange amber glow. On top I got two fingers of light beige foam. This head has good retention and manages to keep a thin covering to the last sip and make some nice sticky and slick lacing on the glass. In the nose I pick up notes of lemony citrus and pine floral hops with a deep sweet and malty underline character. I get the same lemony citrus and pine like hop notes from the nose. They are up front and center on the tongue with a rich bready and brown sugary sweet malty backbone. Firm herbal hop bitterness slowly builds up on the tongue and slowly fades back off into the long finish. It has a solid medium body with a smooth feel and balanced carbonation.
