December 2009. From bottle. Poured orange amber with a large white head. All the right aromas for an IPA are there. This is very well made.

Pours amber with a foamy white head that slowly dissipates. Grapefruit, pine, some malt but not too malty. Very well balanced and drinkable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Grapefruit, pine and sweet malt aroma. Flavor is similar, with a touch of orange and alcohol. Very smooth but bitter finish. Very good beer.

pours a nice orangish copper with an average tan head. This beer tastes of bitter hops, some malts, grapefruit rind and a bitter earthiness. Nothing like I read in the other post, I wonder if I got a tainted one?

12oz bottle from Wolfey’s in Elyria... To me this is a straight inbetween to some of the other gateway IPA’s like a mix between DFH 60 min and DFH 90min.. still a good drinker and finally decided to rate this.

First off, this bottle says best by March 18th 2013, so it’s about a week past its prime. Pretty clear beer with some small particles floating around. Two fingers worth of head that stays at about one through the glass. Very nice lacing. The aroma is of spice and malt with hops there, but definitely in the background and more subtle (I presume because of the age of this beer). The taste is... interesting. Truth be told, it tastes like V8 juice to me as far as the "spice" is concerned, but without any vegetable notes (thank God). Sweet through the front of each sip, with a slightly bitter, spicy finish. Really, I get a LOT of peppery notes in HopDevil, and I don’t mind. The mouthfeel is smooth, and a slight coating is left in the mouth on each sip. HopDevil’s a very good beer, and this one’s not even fresh. I would try this again out of a fresher bottle.

A - Pours a ruby amber with a thin head that dissapates quickly to form a razor thin collar. S - Concentrated grapefruit rind dominates. Sweet caramel malt. Slight booze. T - Astringent citrus hops attack the mouth with stinging barage of bitterness. The hops turn to a spice and salty character that doesn’t back down. Throughout all this hop extravaganza, a pleasant fruitiness comes out and adds dimension. Malt fights it’s way through the bounty of hops to the make this drinkable. M - Creamy with moderate carbonation. If hops is what you seek, you will find it in Hopdevil. I would recommend you try as many IPA’s as possible before trying this one. Because after you drink this you’ll compare the hop content of every IPA, as most everything else you’ll think is "light on the hops". Serving type: bottle 10-17-2010
