[355ml bottle, Appellation Wines, Edinburgh] Hazy bottle, even before opening the swirling sediment is evident. Pours with a large pillowy inch-high head, which fades to a thin retention. Dark amber colour, with slight reddish raspberry-ish hints. Aroma - all hops, pine and citrus, alcohol - but not as much as other strong IPA’s. Highly carbonated in the mouthfeel, very fizzy. Taste is hoppy at first with lovely pine bitter aftertaste, like sucking on a mouthful of pine needles, the acids really come out of this one. Very dry but there is a faint touch of sweetness that stops it becoming a bitter bomb. Strong stuff – but I thought it might be even more overpowering than this given the appearance and label – highly drinkable. [14062010]

It’s bronze with a creamy head. The aroma is lovely hoppy with notes of fruit, citrus, pine and peach. The flavour is sweet and hoppy fruity with ntoes of citrus, peach, pine, caramel and the finish is dry and slightly bitter. Charming indeed.

12oz bottle. Rating #2105. Dark amber with some copper thrown in there and a nice white head. Piney aroma, a little bit of caramel malt as well. Big bitterness up front, pretty long lasting as well, very light malt presence, pretty decent IPA. (1341)

Pours a dark transparent amber with a creamy head that leaves little lacing. Aroma is of hops and roasted malts. Not a much floral character as I had expected. The taste is similar in that there is a good deal of sweetness in the beginning dominated by roasted malt and supplemented by citrus hop flavor. Finish rolls into a hop bitter rather fluidly. I like this IPA a good deal, but could do for less roasty more caramel malt flavor. More floral hops could help too. Still a great IPA.

Bottle.Vibrant bronze pour with standard white head. Aroma is hoppy, as advertised. Pine, brown sugar, and a touch of salt. Flavor is caramel and pine hops that start strong but slowly fade. Gently fading hops finish. Well done.

Draft, deep clear burnt orange, one finger foamy off white head lots of sticky lacing. Lime and pine aroma, resinous pine and grapefruit, just enough malt. Thin mouthfeel but not too thin. A great hot day IPA.

UPDATED: DEC 8, 2010 (I must apoligize to this brew. My first, naive rating was way low. I just had it again last night, over a year later, and it’s lovely. here is my re-rate)Nice amber pour with a lasting head. Very powerful. Full bodied hoppiness punches you in the mouth and doesn’t apologise. A bit spicy too. Taste is very hoppy; loads of pine and citrus. Bitter too. Its balanced with malts, but not by much. It is very hop forward and aggressively resinous. When I first had it a year ago, I thought it was too piney and way to bitter to drink. But if your palate is refined, you can taste a complex hop arrangement that is thinly veiled behind some caramel malt. If hops is your thing, youll love this. It’s potentially the hoppiest beer I ever tried. (Fun note: Combine this with Oskar Blues’ Old Chubb, a super-duper malty brew, and you get what my friends and I call a "Chubby Devil"; super balanced and exquisite. Try one!)
