Bold, spicy and menacingly delicious, this American-hopped India Pale Ale offers an aromatic punch and then follows through with a lasting, full-bodied finish.

Bottle at home, 20th November 14. Pours clear, aroma is sweet malty and some subtle hops. Taste is fine, pretty malty, for the name. Having just had a Kernel IPA, this was poor, and certainly overrated, but still drinkable

12oz bottle from Nikkiís. I suspect itís a couple months old unfortunately. Pours amber with 3/4-inch fine beige head, fades fast to nice looking film. Aroma is a fair amount of caramel, malt extract, some evergreen forest, and a bit of grapefruit rind. Body is medium with medium-light, fat, soft carbonation, a bit watery - boring feel. Flavor is twig, bitter grain, citrus peel. The bitterness is kind of naked, not fresh. I feel like I should have waited for a fresh bottle. As is, a very caramelly IPA with less hop flavor/aroma than a typical American IPA. To what extent is it the brewers fault that this bottle may have sat around for too long? Iím not sure, but if I ever opened a brewery, I think I would be reluctant to have an IPA on the regular lineup. Rotating between several seasonals seems like a good way to build consumer awareness of when an IPA is fresh, and when itís a pumpkin beer in May...

Enticing aroma and hop forward balance. A hint of spiciness and a restrained finish to end.

Bottle. Hazy dark amber pour with tan head that fades away fast. Aroma is fresh - alnost pilsner like with a kick of citrus. Taste has malty sweetness and some underlying bitter notes. Low carbonation.

From 355 ml bottle. Pours a clear orange-amber with a tight, lasting white head and fine carbonation. Aromas of orange peel, pine, grass, caramel and peach. Taste starts off with a malty sweetness with some gentle fruit flavours, followed by a firm citrus zest and pine resin bitterness. Lingering lightly sweet finish. Stonefruit and more citrus in the aftertaste. Really well done.

Smell has some caramel, malts and a subtle hopiness. Pours amber with a small white head. Taste has some fresh malts and hops. Very fruity. Palate is a bit stray. Overall a bit boring but drinkable and pleasant.

ALLOVATE (2487) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - NOV 8, 2014
Deep, orange copper and sparkling with minute carbonation and a lasting, white cap that leaves a thin lace. Nose is quite spicy, weedy and resinous, emanating a dominant hop profile with underlying toasted malts and honey notes. There is chaff and grass, pine needles and floral hints with a little blood orange fruit. Quite chewy, robust, raw and unabashed on the palate. Bigger than expected body with plenty of toasted, cara and crystal malts coming through amongst a burning, íhoppyí backend. The hops are raw like theyíre still floating about; flowers, buds, leaves, the whole kit-n-kaboodle. Quite weedy (in a good way!), floral, zesty and assertively bitter with hints of pot pourri, rose petals, lavender, vine clippings and bay leaf. Alcohol is evident for a beer of such modest strength, but it doesnít detract from its drinkability. Perfectly balanced between chunky malts and bountiful hops this is easily session material. A lovely pale ale! (12fl.Oz, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)

Bottle. Aroma sap resin, citrus, floral, and little raisiny, taste comes on hoppy as expected, bold and herbal with a bitter finish. Solid go to ipa. Wish it was a little less malty.

UPDATED: NOV 3, 2014 My go to IPA in Cny from October to march. Nice floral citrus hop aroma balanced by caramel toffee maltiness. Very well balanced maltier IPA. Kind of like a light barleywine if there were such a thing.
