3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 micbk (22) - Jacksonville, Florida, USA - APR 24, 2010
On draft. Appearance is a darker than expected copper amber with a smoky beige head. Aroma has the syrupy citrus and floral sweetness that most high quality IPAs seem to exude. Taste is much of the same. Great grapefruit and hops flavor with a full body and nice bitter finish. To date my experience with Victory brews has been very positive, and this is no exception.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 humulushound (242) - British Columbia, CANADA - APR 22, 2010
Pours deep amber with sizeable beige head. Aroma is intoxicating - pungent cannaboid, sour citrus hops, toasted grain and caramel malt, hints of pine. Taste is bitter and resinous, light roasty malt in the midpalate, gnawing hop finish. Body is medium with oily qualities and soft carbonation.
Excellent IPA.

UPDATED: JUN 28, 2011 Updated Review June 28, 2011.
12oz bottled June 10, 2011. Very fresh. Noticed my previous review was on an older bottle and jumped on this fresh batch that just came in.
Pours clear amber with a two finger light beige head that leaves rings of clumpy lacing and holds a small cap.
Aroma is herbal, earthy, floral hops, some pine and grass, a bit dank, touch of peach, good bread, toast and caramel malt component as well. Very good strength.
Flavor is resinous hops, some pine and a bit of citrus and fruit, fair caramel and bready malt backbone offering a touch of sweetness, finishes with very strong bitterness and a bit of spice. Minimal alcohol.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, good carbonation.
Very fresh and very tasty IPA. Darker and with a bit more malt backbone than others, but that doesn’t hold back the strong bitterness which I love. Will keep an eye out for fresh batches in the future!
Original Review April 21, 2010.
12oz bottle, best by Jun 15, 2010. Pours clear copper amber with a two finger light beige head that leaves some clumpy lacing at the top of the glass and reduces to a small wispy cap. Aroma is heavy on floral hops, some citrus, pine, a little bread and caramel malt. Moderate strength. Flavor is bitter resinous, floral, pine hops with some caramel malt sweetness mixed in. Finishes long and bitter. Mouthfeel is slick, soft carbonation. Good, but nothing really special going on here...

Pretty much my go to beer for the few years I lived in Jersey. Cant complain about this solid IPA from a great brewing company. Definitely visit the brewpub and try the wild devil version with brett.

For devilish #666, the Hop Devil from one of my favorite American breweries. Great single IPA that has now been consumed by many, and as it should be!! This guy packs a punch to the ode to hops in a refreshing East Coast manner, blasting the bitterness through it’s reigns. Danksauce!

It tastes like your typical IPA it’s hoppy and looks very good. It pours well

12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear darker amber color with a medium sized dense creamy beige head. The aroma is floral hops, fruity with an emphasis on citrus , and undertones of caramel/brown sugar sweetness. The flavor is lightly sweet from hints of caramel, toasted malts, grapefruit citrus adds some bite and bitterness, with floral notes. Medium bodied. This is another beer I had many times before joining the site that I rarely drink today. This doesn’t reflect the beer so much as my obsession. That being said, there are more readily available choices I would grab today.

Pours a light amber. Aroma consists of grapefruit, pine and some florals
Taste is muted bitterness with a sweet light finish. A great beer I could drink a ton of during a session.
