4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Darker copper pour with lots of depth. Medium white head with good lacing. Earthy, spicy, and floral hop aroma. Also pick up caramel malt and some roastiness. An imperial ipa like malt character. The first flavors I pick up some smokiness and roastiness. A very European style hop character with some pacific style hops mixed in. Very good.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Clear mahogany with an of white head. Aroma floral with citrus and caramel notes. Taste of his and a little cardboard, not particularly bitter, would say this is a pale ale except that the palate is more bitter (and cardboardy) than a pale ale would be. OK

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear dark amber, solid 1/2" beige head, full curtain of lace. Aroma of malt and hops. Taste is full-bodied caramel malt that adds clear citrus hops on the swallow, only to have the malt pull even for a finish that has both lingering nicely. A superb IPA. High recommendations.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
A terrific everyday IPA. Not west coast style--too malty--but 100% American in the powerful resiny hops. Very sessionable if not exactly low abv at 6.7. Pours amber with white head. Nose is spicy hops, pine resin. Flavor and palate is where the beer shines. Taste is sweet caramel malt followed by a rush of spicy hops for a dry finish. Very full bodied, but refreshing enough that it invites the next sip. Reasonable points of comparison would be Anchor liberty ale, DF 90 min. (sweeter and heavier), or Sierra Celebration, all of which blend assertive happiness with a firm caramel malt backbone.

Perfect IPA. Meets and exceeds all of my standards. Good hop nose and finish. Plenty of malty flavor! Yum!

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at home, 20th November 14. Pours clear, aroma is sweet malty and some subtle hops. Taste is fine, pretty malty, for the name. Having just had a Kernel IPA, this was poor, and certainly overrated, but still drinkable

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz bottle from Nikki’s. I suspect it’s a couple months old unfortunately. Pours amber with 3/4-inch fine beige head, fades fast to nice looking film. Aroma is a fair amount of caramel, malt extract, some evergreen forest, and a bit of grapefruit rind. Body is medium with medium-light, fat, soft carbonation, a bit watery - boring feel. Flavor is twig, bitter grain, citrus peel. The bitterness is kind of naked, not fresh. I feel like I should have waited for a fresh bottle. As is, a very caramelly IPA with less hop flavor/aroma than a typical American IPA. To what extent is it the brewers fault that this bottle may have sat around for too long? I’m not sure, but if I ever opened a brewery, I think I would be reluctant to have an IPA on the regular lineup. Rotating between several seasonals seems like a good way to build consumer awareness of when an IPA is fresh, and when it’s a pumpkin beer in May...
