The hops are very complex and very fruity. There are some unpleasant tones in the hops though too. It’s mixed. I have complaints too about the flavor. It’s not the bitterness that gets me...this beer is too sour. As an IPA goes, this is solidly mediocre in my opinion. You can’t just make a good IPA by adding a lot of hops...you have to craft the beer, balance it, and use high-quality ingredients and a good process. This beer seems very sloppily brewed. As a final note, however, this beer is redeemed slightly by a certain cleanness in its aftertaste that is lacking from some IPA’s. This does make it more pleasant to drink, offsetting the unpleasant sourness a bit.

Hoppy piney nose, with a string citrus almost lemon quality to it. Has a good amount of spicynees in there to keep you on your toes. In one word this beer is Unique, in a great way. Huge on the nose with all kinds of hops: piney, grapefruity. The flavor follows well with deep bitterness. Nice, resiny feel. Mild aftertaste. DrZao (104), Houston, Texas, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 3, 2010 Pours amber with a thin frothy tan head. Nose is great grapefruit, orange, hints of sticky pine and sweet caramel. The whole gamut for great IPAs. Flavor is bitter and sweet hops, fresh citrus, dank pine and sweet caramel malt. Lovely! jnelson_22 (26), Spaldwick, Cambridgeshire, England
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 2, 2010 Had this one at the foreign beer bar of the Booze on the Ouse beer festival in St. Ives back in the fall. Poured darker than expected for an IPA, an amber/reddish color with a whit head. Delivers a big, spicy hop kick in the nose and mouth with little noticeable malt character. Most prominent character is bitter, spicy hops. Rciesla (3915), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA

Hoppy body with pine, pinecombs, light honey, some floral fruit notes, sweet effervescent hop resins, some citrus notes. A dry subtle earth finish, and a light warming. Great session local ipa.
