Dacrza (148), Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA Jun 9, 2007 The great thing about reviewing beers on websites like this is the compulsory tastings that you’ve had before but must "force" yourself through again...bought a nice sampler for my son’s baptismal afterparty... the guests were pleased...solid one-finger head holds well...a controlled hops explosion to the nostrils, among fresh-cut grass, a fresh-cut cigar and the M&M factory for smells that entrance...vivacious and smooth despite the IPA status...crisp, demanding yet not overstated as other American IPAs can often invade the senses with militaristic carelessness...either the Cavs have me pumped or the alcohol is sneaky quick...as impressive an IPA as I could imagine...if Victory makes a beer unworthy of recognition, I haven’t had it yet...
DrDavid (117), , Vermont, USA Aug 18, 2008 (Bottle). Slightly citrusy aroma. Dark amber color with medium beige head. Taste is a bit uninteresting for an IPA, although there’s nice bitterness. Could use more complexity, and more of a citrus twang. Svesse (1621), Hässelby, Sweden Aug 18, 2008 (Bottle, Oliver Twist, Stockholm) Amber colour with frothy, beige head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of orange marmalade, citrus peel, caramel and toffee. Fruity, malty taste with caramel, toffee, orange peel, grapefruit and hints of pine needles and resin in the finish. Good bitterness, superb balance with a strong malt presence among the hops. Very nice one! RedSox2004 (152), Pacific Palisades, California, USA Aug 17, 2008 Dark amber color, minimal head but nice lacing. Strong bitter hops aroma and tasdte, with a nice malt balance. Medium body, great carbonation and a very crisp and dry aftertaste. A classic IPA. D_malone102 (67), Denver, Colorado, USA Aug 17, 2008 Alot has already been said about hopdevil, so I won’t go Crazy. Bought a 6-pack of it from some punk-rock bar in Philly. Fantastic aroma and hop flavor. Strong malt backbone to back it up. TheBeerBaron (161), Florida, USA Aug 17, 2008 Dark amber color, creamy off white head that laces very well. This shows the high amount of premium ingrediencts involved in this beer. Not much carbonation seen in the glass. Mucho malt aroma and a creamy wheat that then transitions to a medium style hops. Its good and even, not the overboard hop circus that is often accosciated with silly named ipas like this. A thicker palate due to all the malt and hops that goes into this beer. Overall a well representation of micro craft IPA, not unique but well done.
