3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 hockeybeerguy (212) - Portland, Maine, USA - JAN 31, 2013It pours a translucent amber gold body with a head that disappears within a couple seconds. Even with an aggressive pour, the head didn’t last. The smell has an earthy hoppiness that isn’t overbearing. I noticed a bit of clove and cinnamon. The taste has the earthy hoppiness again along with the clove and cinnamon. The palate has a low to medium amount of carbonation. Overall, a pretty good IPA that I would come back to.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Brouwerij (414) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAY 21, 2013
Tap at Reuben’s. Pours a clear burnt copper with fine khaki head. Decent retention and some thin lacing. Aroma is hoppy, resinous, skunky, with a mild malt background. Flavor is mildly malty up front, fading quickly into bitter, hoppy, soapy tones with a malty, nutty finish. Bitter resinous aftertaste. Not a big fan of the hop profile, which seems to be more bitter than anything, no real hop flavor. Maltier than I recall. A solid IPA.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Hophaze (77) - South Bend, Indiana, USA - MAY 21, 2013
12 oz bottle. Pours copper color with medium head that stays awhile and moderate lacing. Aroma of pine and malts. Taste bold and bitter up front but balances rather quickly with malts. Above average.

Pours copper colored and clear with off white head. Medium lacing. Lots of hops in the nose, pear, honey and toasty malts. Taste is big hop flavor, very bitter at first but the toasted malt comes through and lingers for a full bodies finish. Awesome, spicy big and flavorful ups.

Pours a very dark amber/copper with an off white/beige, frothy head that dissipates slowly. Leaves a decent amount of lacing. Aroma is very hoppy and resinous. Very sweet with honey, apricot, yeast, spice, citrus and bitter hops. Mouth is intensely bitter and hoppy. very resinous and floral with pine, grass and an interesting bread like taste.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 VRH (14) - Georgia, USA - MAY 16, 2013
UPDATED: MAY 23, 2013 This pours a beautiful rich red bronze with a beige frothy head that dissipates to nice thin lacing. Peach, pine, honey, bread dough, some butter, & hay on the nose are followed by bright bitter resinous pine, peppery spice, with soapy cilantro & grass flavours on the palate. Smooth medium to full bodied w/ drying bitter finish, this ale is delicious!

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 zmanzorro (84) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAY 13, 2013
On Nitro tap in a snifter. Aroma is moderately hoppy. Color is a very clear dark orange/amber color with a thick white head with lots of lacing left on the glass. Taste is lightly hoppy upfront with a nice malty finish. Incredibly smooth mouthfeel from the nitrogen carbonation. Not as hoppy as expected, but still really good.

Victory Hop Devil IPA has a thick, spongy, khaki head, a semi-clear, orange appearance, a few streaming bubbles, and a good amount of sporadic lacing left behind. The aroma is of hop oil, flowers, some pine, and sweet, white bread. Taste is of all those, plus citrus rind, sugar, citrus juice of some sort, hearty (but, not harsh) bitterness, and no alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium, soft, and oily, and Victory Hop Devil IPA finishes mostly dry, refreshing, sweet, and quite drinkable. This is a super IPA, and I most certainly recommend it! RJT
