baileyuk (11), Wixom, Michigan, USA May 4, 2008 Considering the name I was expecting more hops, but that said it ended up not being too much of a dissapointment. It was one of my last beers on a South Carolina/Georgia tour and it was a great way to finish.
Ap: Poured clear, slightly dark amber color. Good head that retained extremely well.
Ar: A good smell with one of the better hop smells shining through. A slight smell of caramel seemed to be present.
F: Great. Was expecting an overpowering taste and at first was dissapointed (more surprised) after I got over that it was a quick jump to the top of the hill. A good malty taste made the balancing complete on the fine IPA.
P: A smoother taste. The hops provided the right bite and aftertaste.
O: Very good, I switched off this to try something new. Wish I had not, will definately be seeing this beer again!
In summary not one for an extreme hop head, maybe what a hop head would drink when they want a lighter beer for a change.
CoachJT (21), Columbia, South Carolina, USA Oct 11, 2008 12 oz bottle pour. Deep golden, almost red color, nonexistent head. Wonderfully hoppy aroma, taste to match. Great hoppy brew. rustychiles (480), Mesa, Arizona, USA Oct 11, 2008 Pours a deep golden red color with a nice off white head. Aroma of hops malt. Flavor is hops, caramel, malt with a little bittering in the finish. Good IPA. Jsawyer (23), , Pennsylvania, USA Oct 10, 2008 bottled. Pours a wonderful deep amber. Pours a nice crust head at first, clear evidence of a nice alcohol presence, evaporates rather quickly. Nice lacing however. Light floral hop aroma slightly grapefruit citrus. Taste sweet citrus and floral taste with a good amount of honey bitterness. Well balanced sweet and bitter. Nice lasting finish. Solid IPA. CptGreencoat (16), Kettering, Ohio, USA Oct 8, 2008 Bottle. Poured to a very cloudy deep gold color. Nearly no head whatsoever. Light floral hoppy aroma. Very fruity and crisp with just enough hops for me to consider this an IPA. The flavors/feels are beautifully balanced and nothing overpowers the other. It finishes bitter and fast, as a good IPA should. An excellent choice for hop lovers. Lt_Dan (66), Greater Los Angeles Area, California, USA Oct 5, 2008 Poured a dark orange, started with a 1/2 inch head that subsided quickly. There wasn’t much of an aroma, but what I did smell was grass. Tastes of malt and citrus like hops. Perfect level of bitterness. You know its there, but it doesn’t take control of all of your tastebuds. Very balanced, very crisp and refreshing. One of the best IPA’s the east coast offers.
