This dark amber wheat beer features fruity and spicy aromas galore. Significant strength underlies the pleasant citric appeal of this bock beer. Redolent with the flavors of harvest fruit, Moonglow typifies the traditional weizenbock-style so thoroughly enjoyed throughout Bavaria. Left unfiltered, its unique yeast strain gives Moonglow a radiance all its own.

Bottle. Toasty wheat malt, dark fruit, banana, spice, and alcohol aroma. Burnt orange with a moderate peachy tan head, lots of suspended sediment. Burnt caramel, toast, fruit and alcohol flavor. Full, highly carbonated body. Too boozy for my taste.

Bottle from Beers of the World, cellared for 1 year. Dark amber with a quickly fading head. Lots of bubbles and a ton of somewhat gross floaties. Fruity nose of peach, grapes, light banana, and cloves. Sweet flavor, light caramel and lots of fruit. Very nice fruit character. Oily, smooth palate. Good, but a bit one-dimensional.

Pours a cloudy amber to brown with a khaki head that quickly reduces to a ring. The beer looks nearly still in the glass. Nose of chewy caramel, tropical and citrus fruit, some pound cake, cloves and other yeast spice notes. Taste is pretty sweet and actually quite tart, with some bitterness. Palate is fuller, pretty active, with a lengthy tart and chewy finish. Pretty impressive. Lots of complexity.

Thanks to djrn for sending me this bottle. The beer pours a hazy brown color with a white head. The aroma is full of caramel malt with quite a bit of clove and banana mixed in. The flavor has some additional notes. I get a lot of caramel and toffee, as well as some cloves, pepper and spices. There is also a little bit of banana as well as some alcohol. Medium, full mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

(Bottle from Tully’s) Dark amber, very tall off-white head. Aroma of fruit, spice, caramel, booze and yeast. Nice, wheaty-smooth, full palate. Flavor matches the aroma. Pleasant, with just enough booziness and wheat.

12 ounce bottle into weizen glass, best by 9/2/2012. Pours very cloudy reddish orange color with a nice 2-3 finger fairly dense off white head with great retention that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some nice spotty lacing on the glass, with plenty of carbonation streaming up. Aromas of big caramel, banana, clove, pepper, molasses, orange peel, toasted biscuit, raisin, prune, and yeast spices. Great aromas here with good complexity, balance, and strength. Taste of big caramel, banana, molasses, toasted biscuit, clove, prune, raisin, pepper, citrus peel, and yeast spices. Lingering notes of dark fruit, banana, clove, biscuit, and molasses on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic flavor balance and complexity. Medium carbonation and body; with a creamy and slightly slick mouthfeel. Dangerously easy to drink for 8.7%. Alcohol is extremely well hidden, with only a slight warming after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent weizenbock. Great flavor balance and complexity; and super smooth to drink.

Pours a dark amber with a thin medium white head. The aroma is fruity and spicy with some notes of banana and clove. The taste is spicy, malty, and yeasty with earthy hop bitterness and a spicy dry finish. This is a good Weizen Bock.
