COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This dark amber wheat beer features fruity and spicy aromas galore. Significant strength underlies the pleasant citric appeal of this bock beer. Redolent with the flavors of harvest fruit, Moonglow typifies the traditional weizenbock-style so thoroughly enjoyed throughout Bavaria. Left unfiltered, its unique yeast strain gives Moonglow a radiance all its own.

A hazy orange beer with an orange head. The aroma is sweet orangy, combined with light notes of wheat and alcohol. The flavor is sweet malty with lots of caramel as well as light notes of wheat, that gives it a dry end, but it also has light spicy notes. The alcohol, that sets in from the middle gives the warmth.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Clear, dark amber with an off-white head. Rich aromas with lots of banana, yeast and alcohol - also some almost vinous touches. Fairly solid body with lots of fruit - banana in particular - and a rich, alcoholic finish. Lovely. 290806

Bottle that is probably out of date but given to me kindly by Toby. Cloudy dark brown colour. Lasting beige head. Oxidised aroma. Some sweet malts, not a huge amount of German flavour on this. Esters are minimal. Sweet malt and oxidisation.

Hazy dark nutty brown, small off-white head. Ryeish, bready, a bit wheaty with "American nose". Banana, bread, toffee ... lacks the power of Aventinus, but quite tasty.

A: The pour is a nice dark amber color with a finger’s worth of khaki colored head. S: The spicy yeast esters are immediately present. Sweet, hearty, wheat bread follows along with some banana bread sort of notes. T: A good sweet bready base to this beer. Clove and gingerbread along with a subtle banana flavor. Some brown sugar and molasses, as well. M: The body is medium with a lively carbonation that is moderately creamy. A mild warming feel, likely from a rather robust ABV. D: One of the better US interpretations of the Weizenbock I’ve had. I’d probably still go for a Vitus, but this was in no way a let down.
