Commercial Description:
This dark amber wheat beer features fruity and spicy aromas galore. Significant strength underlies the pleasant citric appeal of this bock beer. Redolent with the flavors of harvest fruit, Moonglow typifies the traditional weizenbock-style so thoroughly enjoyed throughout Bavaria. Left unfiltered, its unique yeast strain gives Moonglow a radiance all its own.

Wow. This stuff rocks! Apple, pumpkin, yeast waft from a dark hazy cider-colored beer with a thin head. The palate is sour with banana taste and some sweetness. Enough hops so it isn’t cloyingly sweet. Carbonation is also noticeable in the palate. I love this brewer.

Pours a hazy amber color with not much head. What is there disipates quickly. Aroma is yeast and apricot. Taste is crisp and spicey, slight cidery feel. Lots of yeast taste. A great beer.

4/1/08 notes: bottle. Appearance is a muddy-apricot amber-orange with visible clumps. Virtually no head, thin lacing. Aroma is a unique combo of wheat, yeast, malt, ripe apricot, citrus, caramel, and other spices. Taste is magnificent: a blend of ommegang’s spicy coriander-orange peel, yeast, rich malts, and other fruit. Very impressive. Finishes smooth and semi sweet which lingers in your mouth just the right length. I found this beer simultaneously refreshing, unique, and complex. Great job Victory!

12 oz bottle

I picked up a single of this since it has been a while since I have tried a weizenbock. Because of that I was looking forward to giving this a try. Coming from Victory my expectations were met in the form of a solid well made beer. I don’t know if I would pick up a six pack but having a few bottles around might be nice.

Aroma / Appearance - A short lived beige head graced a caramelized fluid body with hints of caramel, chocolate, topioca pudding and butterscotch. It reminds me of a dessert tray.

Flavor / Palate - Dry apple cider spiked with a hint of caramel filled the mouth. The overall impression was of Wurther’s hard candy. The biggest flaw was that towards the end it became cloying. Other than this small weakness it is solid and enjoyable.

Notes from an on tap experience about a year and a half ago: "Victory moonglow: pumpkin, banana, clove, sweet malt and wheaty yeast nose, tiny hint of abv towards the finish, very sweet, smooth, and sticky palate, starts very bocky and ends hefey..."
