Bomber. Pours amber brown with thin cream head. Aroma is bourbon, oak, caramel, and leather. Flavor is the same plus some vanilla. Extremely delicious BA barleywine.

Bottle @ Yespr. Pours cloudy amber with a small creamy off-white head. Aroma is caramel, toasted, coconut, oak and dark fruit. Taste is heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily , carbonation is near flat. Finishes overly warming and sweet - gave me the shivers.

Itís been so long since Iíve had straight up horizontal that this will just have to stand on its own as a beer. A really nice beer no less. Big and a bit syrupy with some purple fruit in the nose. A little bit of wood and vanilla a swell. The barrel here is subtle and the base beer seems to have a strong presence still. It is a really well made, solid, and consistent drink. Ah the days of when regular old ho was a top 50 beer.

Pours a rich honey color with minimal head. Nose of vanilla, bourbon, booze. Applies to the taste. Excellent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750ml bottle. Murky dark and hazy mahogany with no head. Quite fruity, oak, boozy, tasty, slightly dry, some brandy, moderate+ body, decent carbonation, well balanced and complex, glad I have another bottle.

Aroma is heavy malts, funk/fruit and a hint of alcohol. The flavor is malts, spices/mild heat, fruit and a tangy/alcoholic finish.

750 ml bottle into snifter, bottled on 12/20/2012. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy deep ruby red color with a small dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big caramel, raisin, fig, citrus peel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, vanilla, clove, oak, bourbon, light coconut, light pine, and toast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good complexity and balance of dark malt, bourbon barrel, and light-moderate hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big caramel, raisin, fig, citrus peel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, vanilla, oak, clove, bourbon, coconut, light pine, and toast/oak earthiness. Fair amount of earthy oak tannin bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, raisin, fig, citrus peel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, vanilla, oak, clove, bourbon, brown bread, light coconut, and toast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity of dark malt, bourbon barrel, and light hop flavors; with a great malt/barrel flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a creamy, moderately slick, and lightly syrupy/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent BA barleywine. All around great complexity and balance of deep malt, bourbon barrel, and light-moderate hop flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Medium brown with perhaps of hit of orange. Smells of vanilla, malt, bourbon. Mouthfeel is very smooth for the ABV. Bourbony malty dark fruit on the taste.

Draft @ Novare Res. Aroma has a huge oak influence with the bourbon being subtle. Also over ripe fruits and thick caramel malt. Flavor is really nice. The oak is the largest influence with vanilla, light bourbon, caramel candy, molasses and dried fruit sprinkled with sugar. Medium to full body with soft carbonation.

The malt depth with the combination of the oak makes this a complex brew. The ABV isnít super noticeable until after I finished the glass and got up and walked around. Smooth and sweet without being cloying. Finely crafted. I should pick up a bottle and cellar it.

Aroma is strong vanilla and really nice and inviting. Appearance is dark amber. Pours with quickly dissipating head with little lacing. Taste is vanilla and bourbon. Palate is like typical strong ale... not really full and sticky but ok. Overall i can recommend.

750ml bottle split with jortiz82 and one of our mutual friends. Poured a nice medium brown head, with a light off-white tan head. Aroma compared to itís base beer was a lot more mellowed, barley wine still in there, but barrel and light woody vanilla has taken over. Alcohol is very well masked in this one, mellowed quite a bit. Woody, sweet caramel notes. Enjoyable.
