Commercial Description:
Luxuriously rich in character, this warming winter ale delivers over 10% alcohol in an oh-so-seductive manner. Deliciously fruity flavors lie under a bracing hop nose.

A ruby/maple red pour. Tastes of roasted malt, on the darker side with a more caramel/chocolate end that’s not strong but isn’t overpowered by the alcohol that was present more towards the end of the drink. A favorite of mine in the barley wine category.

I tend to like the Old Ho with about 2 years on it. Mellows enough for me and is great. Aroma has some hops, pine, caramel and nice sweetness. Flavor if pretty big. Pine and citrus hops, caramel and molasses and nice body.

Light brown with Light red woody highlights. Aroma is Caramel, citrus, grapefruit hop aroma, bit of candy sweetness. a bit of fruitiness and some boozy wood. Flavor is hot all the way through, woody sweet caramel flavors, sugary sweet but nice hop ballance and some great fruit. A delightful sipper.

Pours a delicious light brown. Aroma is good, but I can’t quite place what the smell is other than hops. Taste is mostly of lightly toasted malt and hops, but not real strong. Alcohol is there, but not overpowering even though it is 11%. Very good, one of my favorite barleywines.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy reddish copper with a medium sized frothy tan head. Aroma is caramel, pine, citrus, and some alcohol and it’s all sugary. Flavor has some caramel, honey, citrus, some fruity hints, and a medium bitterness that creates a very nice balance. Full bodied with a generous amount of carbonation.

From a bottle that’s about 8mo old. Poured into a snifter with about an inch of thick white head. Head disappeared quickly and left no lacing. Smells of alcohol and fruit. Mostly dark fruit like plums and apricots. Taste is slightly biting hops and alcohol with more dark fruit underneath. Alcohol isn’t by any means overpowering and adds a lot to the flavor. My mouth and lips feel sticky when drinking due to the sugar and all around richness of this beer. Very nice barleywine. The more I drink the more flavors come out and the more I enjoy it.
