4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: SEP 2, 2010 Bottle: Pours a Dark Amber - Average whiteish head - This brew makes my head want to explode - Huge malty richness with a touch of fruitiness- and its incredibly boozy as well. In spite of that, the mouthfeel is also incredibly smooth - So on one hand you want to drink this like a session, but you soon realize the error of your ways. Fantastic - I wouldnít call it "luxurious:, I would call it luscious. And when I say it makes my head explode, lets just say that everyone was feeling a little odd while drinking this in my group. "Itís like a shot of botox from the inside out." Yes, we were drunk at this point.

Pours a glowing ruby orange somber. Large creamy beige head. Nice hoppy aroma, Grapefruit, citrus. Moderate balanced malty backing. Caramel. Hoppy, sweet and malty all nicely come together. Flavor matches perfectly. Medium to full body. Excellent bitterness that is kept in check. Creamy and Super smooth. More pine in finish. Very hoppy. Very good. Did not find much alcohol, except some nice belly warming. Well-made.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Victory, Downington, 27/11/13.
Dark amber with a moderate light beige covering, good lacing ensues.
Nose is dark toffee fudge, dates, raisens, dark brown sugar, light boozey vein.
Taste comprises sweet cake mix, hoppy backnotes, light tropical fruit medley, dates, brown sugar, sticky stewed grapefruit, raisens, caramelised sugar, toffee fudge.
Full bodied, soft carbonation, smooth on the palate with a touch of booze in the closure.
Decent enough Barley wine, doesnít carry as much depth as the oak version but the 11% is well masked.

Draft to taster. Looks solid; a transparent copperish orange with sticky off-white lacing. Smells sweet and malty with notes of juicy hops and caramel. Tastes like it smells with a nice mouthfeel thatís fairly smooth for the abv. Enjoyable.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a slightly hazy caramel red with a fluffy off white head. Huuuuge hops on the nose, mostly ripe fruit and lots of citrus, a little sticky resinous pine, caramel and molasses, dates, dark cherry, and a hint of milk chocolate. Nice caramel and dark fruit sweetness up front on the taste, huge bitter hops, lots of citrus then into massive piney and floral hops, a little alcohol is noticable, somewhat sweet, and a little hot. This is a delicious barleywine, but its almost more like a huge DIPA at the moment. Iíd really like to set one down for a year or so and see how it settles down.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle, 2013 release. Shared with Annie and co. Mostly clear red orange color. Thin khaki head, leaves plenty of dots and short ropes of lace. Big body, kind of creamy and chewy, with a lightly dry finish. Lighter, smooth carbonation. Moderate sweet taste, good hop bitterness in the finish. Light alcohol warmth, but itís all appropriate and works well. Good caramel, lightly spicy malt profile. Some dark fruit, some tropical hop. Good light pepperiness. Light hints of darker malts, maybe a bit of chocolate / lightly toasty malts. A big, complex rich meaty flavor overall. Very impressive big barley wine. Well-integrated.
