COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Luxuriously rich in character, this warming winter ale delivers over 10% alcohol in an oh-so-seductive manner. Deliciously fruity flavors lie under a bracing hop nose.

Hazy red-mahogany color; small creamy head; it actually pours not as viscous and more carbonated than expected. There is a good malt aroma, a bit nutty, honey too. The body strength is limited by the carbonation and medium-high alcohol perception. Good malt and caramel flavor, sweet but not syrupy, with a strong final nutty bitterness. Good and balanced beer, but not extraordinary as I thought previously.

Hazy copper color. Impressive hoppy aroma, fruity and flowery; wonderful malt, caramel. A bit oily, thick; itís a malt juice! Nuts? Powerful, but well mixed, explosion of bitterness.

Bottle, 12oz. I tend to love barley wines, and this one is helping me understand why. It pours a semi-clear, deep golden body, with an off-white head. The aroma has pine, camphor, some alcohol, hops and a lot of maltyness. The flavor is very malty, but they put enough hops in it to balance it very nicely, giving it a piney, almost astringent touch. I tend to like my barley wines less hoppy, but they are sure nice at this hop level too. Full body for sure. The finish is tad too bitter for my likings, but I donít care too much, itís lovely anyway. (071123)

22oz bottle. Trade with TheEpeeist. Thanks. Pours close to amber with a red & orange hew & a lasting small creamy head on top - Wauw!. Nose is complex of various things. First is the dark fruits - resin & plum. Then it is the malty caramel. Nice citrus hop note also. Very smooth, soft & full mouthfeel. Sugar & alcohol is noticeable - but far from overpowering. Sticky lips. Well made & truly fine barley wine!

Red-amber color, small off-white head. Bready, hoppy and slightly fruity aroma. Full-bodied, bready, hoppy. Alcohol punch and sweet fruits (+grapefruit) in the aftertaste (together with hops). Nicely balanced, bitter but "not so hard to drink" barley wine.

Heavy hops on the nose; beautifully balanced with loads of soft, chewy malt and flowering, citric hop. At times this is like bathing in hop oils, but the malt and alcohol re-emerge from their slumber to smooth out the edges. A well-named beer, not to be consumed in a standing position.

A: The pour is dark amber, perhaps copper, with a finger of off-white head. S: A surprisingly sharp grapefruit aroma to this one with a lot of floral notes to it as well. Some slight booze, but otherwise a nice malt character. A bit of brown sugar, toffee, and caramel. T: Some citrus hop notes up front with a mild bitterness, but this is a pretty sweet barleywine. Lots of toffee and brown sugar sweetness with a slight creaminess to it, maybe a bit of molasses. M: Medium bodied with a medium level of carbonation. O: A pretty nice barleywine, especially for one that is pretty much always available.

12 oz bottle. Aroma of waxy green leaf and light fruits and caramel. Amber color with ruby in the depths. A beige head went up and down. Full bodied with coarse carbonation. Flavor is caramel/toffee sugar with strong, yet subtle, light stone fruit flavors. Heat goes down the throat. Finish is far from dry, and itís even a little sticky, yet it does not come across as sticky sweet. Seems to be some hop bitter. Not enough to balance, but enough to render it drinkably pleasant. Thereís a whole lot of flavor going on.
