| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 7, 2010 Poured from a 12oz bottle into a stemmed glass.
The color is a cloudy orange color with about three fingers of foamy off white head, some thick lacing.
The smell is bit grassy hop flavor. Some dark fruit flavor with some banana and grape flavor.
The taste is is a bit hoppy like an IPA but it does have some bite. It is warming with some fruit flavors coming across in the background. Some malt comes across late but not very much.
The feel of this beer is medium but strong, with 11% ABV this beer has a kick and does show it on the way down. It has a warming, medium feel but does not give off too much alcohol burning. elgiacomo (108), Chickamauga, Georgia, USA

Pours reddish brown with a big light tan head that maintains a small cap. A lot of head for a barleywine. Minimal lacing. Aroma is rather hoppy, earthy, a lot of malt, and sometimes a bit funky. Flavor is sweet caramel malts up front, citrus and rensinous hops. Alcohol is well hidden considering the %. Mouthfeel is a little sticky but not too bad for the style. Pretty damned good. Like it better than the Third Coast Old Ale I had earlier tonight. Toxygen (414), Sanford, Florida, USA

flavor: caramel T1, hop-bitter smooth-warm-alchl T2, citrus-hop-bitter T3.
the alchl and hop-bitterness do not get overpowering but they limit enjoyment to small quantities. nittanytide (50), Pennsylvania, USA
