Light golden color, huge bubbles, generous fast-dying head. Big, big nose: apricots, 7-up (lemon/lime), slight date/caramel maltiness. Great dry/bitter flavor -- at the opposite end of the spectrum from Lakefront’s Klisch Pilsener, my other favorite American Pils; this is like the driest of champagne, with dominant grapefruit and orange flavors, giant hop bitterness, but a decent body and woody maltiness to balance. Long tough finish. Absolutely great pils, refreshing but not something you can toss back brainlessly. Starting to get the picture on this brewery...

Had this for the 1st time at the City Pages beer fest in Minneapolis a few months ago, and loved it, but the 3 oz I tasted were not enough to form a complete opinion. Now that I have, I have nothing but positive things to say. The 1st impression is a citrus fruit hoppy aroma. The appearance is unique; the cloudy, amber-gold hue with a thick white head provides an alluring attractiveness. This is quite possibly the best pilsner I’ve ever had, which means it supplants Urquell from the top of my list. There is so much flavor and complexity here, it is almost unfair to other Pilsners for Prima to be an entry in the Pilsner category. Nevertheless, the bar has been raised, and we all will benefit from competitors attempting to best the Prima!

Best American brewed Pils I’ve ever tried...has that un-defineable extra certain something that makes it stand out, not sure if it’s the fantastic malt flavor, the perfect balance, or the picture perfect noble hop bitterness and flavor...Prima pils is definitely "all that"!

Truly one of the finest American pilseners. No need to travel to Prague!

Top notch Pilsener. Do these guys make any bad beers? Plenty of descriptions already so if your thinking of trying it, do yourself the favor.

I had to go mail order just to try this Pilsener out and I have to say, it was one of my better decisions. I’ve never tasted a more bold sample of the style: Enormous hop flavour when first poured..almost like it’s a totally unbalanced brew complete with enormous carbonation but wait a few moments and everything seems to settle down. The taste of malt finally creeps in and the huge bubbles are now small. Almost like 2 beers in one; the foamy head is retained through both stages of this beer’s life. ;^)

This was a good clean and crisp beer. but after i read the description i expected a little more kick. i’m not a big fan of pilsners. They seem to lack some flavor i expect in beer. but if this is yer thing you might like this one.

My second favorite beer to drink. My first is Vicotory’s Hellerbock. There is nothing more refreshing than drinking a tall cold Prima on a hot humid North East summer day.

UPDATED: FEB 1, 2003 This is my kind of pills, golden color , nice foamy white head, leaves a lace in my glass, hoppy aroma for a pils, balanced flavors in this nectar , it has a very tasty hop bite and finishes dry.
