UPDATED: FEB 21, 2008 Thin white head. The body is a rich gold color with few bubbles. Aroma is floral and slightly herbal. Also notes of iced tea. The taste the taste has strong vegetable notes with some earthy hops to back it up. A little carrots, ginger and some white bread. Interesting and solid for the style. Thanks civforprez for bringing this one to me. Trying agian recently as it arrived fresh in Iowa. Solid and it is a prime example of the style.

Pours clear bright gold with short lived white head. The modest aroma seems to be dominated by spicy hops with thin layers of floral hops and faint sweetness around the edges. The taste is up front bitter noble hops creating a mostly spicy profile with lesser amounts of floral and shrubbery like earthiness. Flavor hops grow to midway aided by faint sugary malt sweetness. It ends with a return of hop bitterness heading into the finish and after taste. Reminds me of a more bitter version of Sam Adams Boston Lager back in the early 90s with my early 90s palate.

Bottle. Clear yellow body with a medium white head. Malty and freshly hopped aroma. Flavour is loads of malt, caramel, some pine and grape. Medium bodied. It ends up hoppy bitter. Nice session beer.

355ml bottle from Beers of Europe. What a difference a good dose of hops can make to a pale lager. This is full of flavour - firm and tangy without being aggressive, leaving a healthy English hop bitterness unusual for a lager. The hop impact is such that it feels immediately American, even though the ingredients are all European. This is a modern brewing approach to traditional ingredients and methods, and it works well. A very drinkable and attractive brew.

50ml, bottle. Last drink on the second day at CBF 09. White foamy head, yellow-golden body. Fresh and nice fruit hoppy aroma. Smooth flavour of noble hops and pale malts. Fair bitter endnotes Clean tasting and easy going. Far better than what is called pils in Norway (late on 16.05.2009).

Bottle. Very pale golden colored beer with a good white head. Fruity/spicey hop aroma. Fruity and earthy hop flavor with good bitterness for a pils. Fresh tasting with just a bit of malt backing. Well balanced. Very good for quenching thirst, but keeps drawing you back to drink some more. Very well made.

UPDATED: MAR 10, 2010 Bottle. Aromas of fir trees and fresh grain. Deep deep golden, almost copper with huge frothy head, scattered lacing. Creamy mouthfeel, great carbo level carries all the flavors around the mouth. What gorgeous hops!!!!!!! Leafy, piney, earthy but bright. Brighter than many if not most IPAs out there. Some endive-like bitterness. A near-perfect hoppy pils, really and it has become one of my go-to beers. One of my favorite sessionable beers, period. Every time I go to have one I’m afraid it won’t live up to memory and every time it actually does. This is quality stuff. It sorta fills that IPA spot without the heaviness, and yet I’d hesitate to compare it to an IPA just on the basis of its being hoppy. Truth is, the malt character, the quality of the hop, and the body of the beer combine to make it unmistakably pilsener that would live up to New or Old world standards.
