4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 ekstedt (3625) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JAN 19, 2012
Bottle (33 cl) from bierzwerg.de. Clear straw golden, large rocky white head. Hayish malt aroma with strong floral, herbal, and grassy hops. Light to medium bodied, medium carbonation. Dry with a massive, yet elegant bitterness. The best non-german pils I’ve had.

UPDATED: MAY 4, 2007 [upon gaining an appreciation of pilsners, this has become on of my favorite american-made examples] I’m not a fan of pilsners at all, but I’ll try anything made by Victory that I can get my hands on. Looks pretty much like a standard pilsner should look, light golden color with a medium-sized head. The aroma is a subtle mix of hops and malts. The subtle malt character is in the flavor, and the hops come through very much. The finish is all hops and bitterness that I really didn’t enjoy very much. For the style it is very good, at the very least drinkable, but still not my thing. Nice try Victory, but not even you can make me like pilsners. [RE-RATE] (original 12/17/02, now 12/21/02) After a second bottle, I must give the beer props for being the best of its style. That is saying a lot. And I can’t remember the last time
I was able to finish an entire 12 ounces of pilsner. Bravo, Victory. This may be a bad style of beer, but there is still something to be said about making the best of the worst.

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2010 Re-rate. Bottle. Pours gold with a white head. Balanced and very drinkable. Spicy and floral hop notes.

Bottle and Draught, many times at many places. This has got to be one of the best Pilseners. Pours a clear, light yellow with a modest, fizzy white head. Great aroma of straw, floral hops and mild malts. Flavor has light sweetness, but some very crisp, grassy hops. Light in body with fine, quenching carbonation. Finishes with some sweetness, but lots of dryness and hops. Excellent.

UPDATED: MAY 14, 2007 Very very golden, maybe a bit of orange haze. Very clear though, bubbly, decent small white head that lasts. Typical hops profile, a little bit of sourness. Good even lagered taste. Surprisingly smooth and soft texture, quite sweet for a pilsener, almost like it has honey, but then the peppery hops flavor kicks in and the carbonation adds more of a spicy flavor. Very good bitterness on the finish, good aftertaste, medium light body, but great for what it is. I just couldnt get used to the white grape juice meets light apples (is that a tropicana twister flavor?) that seemed to prevail upon the body.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 drowland (3570) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - FEB 8, 2010
12 oz bottle (2010) into a pint glass. The malt is subtle and the hops are there, but overall it’s a bit minerally and too dry.

Reviewed from notes, although I’ve had this too many times to count.
Pours a niceclear golden straw color with plenty of visible carbonaion bubbles. Nice white head and a bit of lacing. Nose is grain and fresh noble hops. Herbal, floral, and a tad earthy. Taste balances the grain and bitterness quite well. Great, crisp mouthfeel with good carbonation levels. Drinks really well and is a Spring and Summer staple for me.
Serving type: on-tap
