Sample at Buckeye Beer Engine. Pours clear yellow with a big white head. Creamy malt nose with some subtle hops. Sweet malt flavor with a bitter hop finish. Good for the style I guess, but not as good as I had heard.

UPDATED: DEC 26, 2005 First time in awhile that I used my footed pilsner glass. Pours to a fully lasting rocky white head with excellent lacing and a glowing golden body with visible carbonation. The aroma is bright. Lemons, sourdough bread, and dandelion wine. This is definitely thoroughly hopped. The flavor is crisp floral/perfumey hops, subtle spicy hops, decent biscuit malt. Drying finish on the palate. Yet refreshing given the carbonation. Worth a try.
I picked up a sixer of this. The more I drink it, the better it is. This is SUCH a well made beer.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 TheAlum (2981) - Lisle, Illinois, USA - AUG 12, 2008
12 oz bottle from John’s Grocery (Iowa City, IA). Pours a very light yellowish hue with a decent white bubbly head that quickly dissipates. Aromas are slightly of pilsner malt and light hop notes. Taste is similar, some "stinky bread" malts as I like to call them balanced well by some spicy bitter hops. Refreshing and quenching, but just as good as any other brew of the style that receives considerably lower ratings than this bad boy. Overrated for sure. Still, I’d drink it again and it was a decent beer
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 thornecb (2961) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 11, 2006
Poured from 12 oz bottle into footed pilsner. Head quickly dissipates to approx 1/4 inch and stays. Crisp malty aroma. Quick hop flavor turns to malt and back to hops where it lingers for quite a while. Lively carbonation. Bitter hop flavor is quite intense and astringent. Very refreshing.

UPDATED: APR 12, 2008 Pours a cloudy pale golden with a smallish, mostly diminishing head. Aroma is floral hops, some pine. Flavor is quite hoppy, grapefruit, lemon, malt presence is very light, some dough. Dry finish. Medium/light body with moderate carbonation. Delicious.

UPDATED: JUN 28, 2008 Tap at Barcade: Golden beer, with perfect clarity and topped a white consistent film. The aroma is bright with light citrus hop notes, predominately lemon, grassy notes and a pale malt hint. Flavor is similiar. Crisp, with evident smooth lemon-hop notes, with enough malt character to hold the body. Bright and clean with a smooth bitter finish. Solid Pilsener profile.

Pours out a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is of hops and grainy malts. Surprisingly full-flavored, very hoppy, with nice malt character to it as well. Medium-bodied, long dry finish. This is a great Pilsener.

(12 oz bottle: Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, CA) I definitely think this is one of the best hops-dominated, American pils out there, and it’s an example of how my tastes have changed over the years. I used to hate this beer; way too bitter for me back then. But while it’s still not my favorite pilsener, I at least can drink a bottle of this beer and enjoy it. It has a pleasant, mildly malty base, but it’s obvious claim to fame is the crisp, assertive, fairly bitter and grapefruity hops that dominates this beer from start to finish. The graininess is a bit more apparent in the nose, but even here, the grapefruit citrus dominates. Light bodied, and as clean and crisp as any pilsener I’ve ever sampled. Medium straw in color and slightly hazy. The snow white head rises to nearly an inch before slowly subsiding to a filmy layer. A sporadic ring of lace remains behind near the top of the glass. If I were to desire a hoppy pilsener, this would probably be my choice. But the thing is, I rarely desire such a beer. If I want a pale lager, I want it to be more malty than hoppy.
