3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 holdenn (1841) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 1, 2006
From the bottle, it pours straw colored with a thin white head. Aromas come off as wheaty and field of grains like. The flavor is a little wheaty and sweet but still with some complexities, a little woody and balancing with hop bitterness. I’m not a pilsner person, but if more tasted like this i might become more of one.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 tjthresh (1840) - Greenfield, Indiana, USA - APR 15, 2007
Brilliant clear golden with a thick snow white head. Lots of hops in the nose. Loads of pilsner malt. Long earthy hop flavor and bitternes. Crisp. Thirst quencher.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 legion242 (1839) - Richardson, Texas, USA - JUL 7, 2002
Nice yellow color; Head left something to be desired; Grassy, wonderufl nose. Dry, grassy palate. A satisfying pils- maybe one of the best I have encountered.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Brigadier (1837) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - MAY 20, 2006
UPDATED: OCT 3, 2006 12 oz bottle
Aroma / Appearance - One finger head lingers over a golden, actively carbonated body that reminds me of banana nut bread, wheat, hops and also maintains a general light airiness.
Flavor / Palate - Slightly bitter first impression is a taste of what comes afterwards. A balance of malts, hops and wheat combines to form an interesting and strong taste that eventually yields to pine nuts, rose petals and dogwood. Overall, fairly good but for some reason it did not impress me. Still a very solid pilsener that one could drink all summer.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 wetherel (1837) - Encinitas, California, USA - MAY 25, 2008
On tap at the brickstore. Pale yellow color. Some Saaz hop aroma. Also some feet in the aroma. I don’t think the lines were clean. I need to try this again from bottle or something.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 yobdoog (1835) - Woodridge NY, New York, USA - JUN 18, 2009
I just can’t seem to get past the green taste. Semi-skunk and dry finish bothers me. Bitter flavor overall and light bread and citrus and skunk aroma.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Elwood (1834) - Between a rock and a hard place, Virginia, USA - JUN 6, 2009
12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy yellow color with a small, foamy white head. The nose is crisp hops, light lemon, and a touch of grass. Medium carbonation with a medium-light mouthfeel. Citrus (primarily lemon), grass, a touch of floral, and a very light malt sweetness on the palate. Smooth and very drinkable. Great lacing left behind also. Overall a very refreshing and highly quaffable beer. Maybe a touch on the sweet side and one IBU too much of hops, but that is really splitting hairs. Damn good and certainly one I will get again!
